Basic Purpose of Job:
Function:
1) Provide technical support to the  Labs in Managing TB operations in the target      region through affective lab testing monitoring & quality controls for executing the assigned project activities.
2) Implementing &  ensuring compliance to the National guidelines for TB and Lab Diagnostics.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Testing clinical specimens of patients referred for TB diagnosis using GeneXpert machine.
2) Accurate, complete and timely reporting of results as well as to maintain and update the database/records of all tests as per timelines and SOP\\\'s/guidlines on standard recording tools and in the electronic database.
3) Report Rifampicin resistant cases with immediate effect and by the fast means possible to the referring health facility/ linked PMDT sites and inform the MDR focal person.
4) Coordinate closely with the referral healthfacility/ linked PMDT site and District TB control officer to ensure  enrollment of all diagnosed cases.
5) Maintain GeneXpert equipment and perform calibration as per user\\\'s manual /instruction provided.
6) Follow instructions for trouble shooting of minor errors/faults in the Xpert machine. Immediately report technical issues to the Regional Coordinator.
7) Monitor the stock status of cartridges and tmely generate a demand for cartridges to avert expiries/stock outs.
8) Give clear instructions to the patients for obtaining good quality sputum.
9) Ensure uninterrupted provision of services and supplies.
10) Any other task assigned by the supervisor.

This position is responsible for testing appropriate biological samples for MTB & Rif resistance detection using the Gene Xpert machine and to ensure management and timely maintenance of the machine. The position must also ensure accurate reporting and maintenance of testing data.
TASKS &ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Responsible for handling, storage, preparation and running sputum and other appropriate samples for Gene Xpert testing for the detection of  DS-TB as well as DR-TB.
Check the sample quality prior to testing.
Ensure appropriate infection control protocols are followed during sample handling, preparation and testing procedures.
Ensure that the SOPs for sample testing are followed accurately.
Maintain an accurate and updated log of the testing data.
Provide daily feedback of the testing data to the Supervisor.
Clean and maintain the Gene Xpert machine on a daily, weekly and monthly basis based on the assigned protocols provided.
Provide access to testing report where required to the relevant patient, referring physician and/or screener.
Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided in the lab.
Maintain the lab supplies register.
Liaise with the site supervisor, screeners, senior site managers and hospital staff.
Supervise labs, Monitor acuracy of test results, Collect DATA, Compile DATA & Share Report to Regional Manager.

Trained sub-ordinate on performing tests, Lab maintanence, self protection, Pulbic protection, Bio-safety & Bio-security.

TASKS &ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Participate in multi-disciplinary team in the provision of care to patients.
Conduction of various test proposed by health consultant and compilation of test\'s result.
Ensure that duties and function are undertaken in a manner that priorities the safety and wellbeing of patients.
To facilitate patient, doctor and laboratory technician.
Communicate effectively and to be soft spoken with patients/community members.
Ensure dignity of older people and person with disability.

Submit report on daily basis.
Insure availability in medical camps/ meeting arranged by HelpAge staff.

As medical candidate i have completed two years medical diploma in Neonatal & Child Health technology. I got practical expertise in Paeds medicine, including paeds medicine, neonatal nursery, isolation, Paeds surgery & emergency day care centre.
