PURPOSE OF POST The LHV in Maternity department is responsible for providing care at the maternity department under the direct supervision of the nurse: the Labor Room, Delivery room, ensures the neonatal resuscitation and early postpartum follow up of women. FUNCTIONAL AND HIERARCHICAL LINES She answers to: Midwife supervisor. She works under direct supervision of a registered nurse on all duties. She collaborates with: the rest of the medical team, the logistic and administrative department MISSION AND PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES 1. Attendance and involvement at work: Observe the MSF charter. Perform all activity in line with the MSF protocols and procedures. Respect the time schedule and be at work on time (flexible at anytime). Treat the patient with care and respect providing good quality care. Respect the patient privacy and strictly respect community culture, norms. Maintain good relationship with other team members. Adhere to MSF Clinical Guidelines and protocols. 1. Maternity department To work under direct supervision of a registered nurse on all duties. Professional Responsibilities Supervision of LHV staff with all aspects of maternity care Ensuring adequate handover of patients to oncoming staff To accompany patients when transferring between departments Attending regular team meetings Participating in training sessions Keeping the labor room stocked and tidy Participating in filling our daily consumption sheets Being aware of the procedures to follow after accidental exposure to blood Documentation of antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum care in nursing notes Carrying our daily/ weekly checking of equipment including cleaning of emergency equipment Assisting with weekly drug order and monthly stock inventories Participating in filling our daily consumption sheets and re-ordering stock if required Checking and ordering of weekly stock in the assessment room Collaborating with staff

Responsible for the MCH services Strong skills in conducting Normal Vaginal Deliveries and essential newborn care. Able to do ANC/PNC according to the Merlin protocols. should be able to asses complicated delivery and know the referral protocols Ensure that the delivery room is kept clean, tidy. Ensure that the instruments used are cleaned and sterilized and store according to the standards. Ensured that privacy is maintained deliveries Ensure that correct and timely record of all ANC, PNC and deliveries etc. is maintained. Ensure the Health care Waste Management Protocols have been implemented properly. Provide standard FP services Ensure that privacy and confidentiality is maintained during counseling. Give the correct dosageApply correct route (IM, ID, SC & oral). Maintain accurate record of all the vaccinations. Ensure that patient/attendants receive necessary health education. Responsible for the Nutrition Programme Respect of the criteria for admission and exit Correct filling of the individual cards and the attendance register Quality of medical care provided : drugs distribution, correct application of the medical protocols; clinical follow-up, re-hydration, early detection of the medical complications Ensure food distribution is in the correct quantities Nutritional follow-up : correct measurements and follow-up of the weight and oedema Respect of the dignity of the patients and their accompanying Resolution of problems occurring between the patients and the staff To ensure that mothers are well informed about the functioning of the centre;

The Clinical Officer will work with senior clinical supervisors to create and manage all the MNCH activities of training, coaching and supportive supervision activities in the districts. Responsibilities include program development, reporting, monitoring and supportive supervisions, doing regular quality improvement visits and implementation of quality tools in MNCH centres. Job Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with other program staff to ensure necessary program planning for the trainings, coaching visits and supportive supervision, Assist field staff with technical expertise in development of Work collaboratively with field staff to ensure that resources for effective and timely program implementation are available Participate in monitoring and supportive supervision Oversee SBAs in all the MNCH centres and assure highest quality of care Ensure timely, accurate and appropriate reporting of program activities and results to supervisorRemain current in all clinical matters

Ensure the proper screening, assessment and registration of children ( 5yrs) and Pregnant & Lactating women as per CMAM guidelines. Responsible for management of moderately & severely acute malnourished children ( 5yrs) and Pregnant & Lactating women and maintenance of records at HFs. Follow the CMAM management guidelines for the treatment of moderate and severe acute malnutrition (without complications) in children ( 5yrs) and Pregnant & Lactating women. Ensure Proper care, packing and distribution of nutrition commodities to the registered and deserving patients as per CMAM guidelines. Ensure the timely referral of severely acute malnourished children with complications to the stabilization centre. Coordinate with the SC staff and follow up the status of the referred children. To provide appropriate counselling support to the mothers/guardians for availing the curative services at SC. To register the children up to 02 years of age in the CCT component of the project. Prepare and submit timely Supply Request for SFP & OTP supplies. To promote the importance of nutrition in the community especially targeting woman and children under 05 years of age. To Promote IYCF (Infant & Young Child Feeding) practices in the community. Provide technical support to Lady Health Workers (LHWs), Lady Health Supervisors (LHSs) and Community Resource Person (CRPs). To conduct outreach activities in the catchments of the health facility in order to maximize the coverage. Ensure maintenance of Supply and its records keeping at Health Facility and proper distribution and use of commodities. To keep close coordination with save the children PHC team, MoH and PPHI staff at health facility level. Ensure timely submission of reports. The employee may be required to perform other tasks, take on other responsibilities and work in other locations, depending on the needs of the project.
