Proofreading is the final step of reviewing a document and requires reading it word for word to make sure no spelling or grammar errors exist. A good proofreader has an insane eye for detail and can spot spelling errors, typos and any grammatical mistakes a mile away! We are looking for an Urdu proofreader for our online magazine who values crisp, clean writing.

Skills we are looking for:

A thorough knowledge of the Urdu and English languages;
A methodical working style;
Concentration, accuracy and great attention to detail;
The ability to multi-task;
Tact and diplomacy while working with writers/translators and designers for best product;
The ability to work to tight deadlines;
IT Skills, a ‘digital native’.

Responsibilities:

writing, rewriting, editing and proofreading text
making sure that ‘house style’ is adhered to
writing headlines, picture captions and story summaries
ensuring that stories are the right length and correctly placed on pages
there are no errors such as letters in the wrong order
the text and diagrams are positioned correctly
there are no confusing words, column or page breaks
images have the right captions and relate to the text
the layout is logical and attractive

Previous experience in proofreading is a necessary requirement.
