Sukkur Beverages (Pvt.) Ltd. (SBL) is among the best beverage producing facilities in Pakistan because it employs skilled labor, efficient managers, and an effective sales force. To be cost and time efficient, SBL continuously makes efforts to enhance its plant capacity and advance its equipment. I did six weeks internship where I got practical exposure to real-world phenomena. I experienced how the finance department of beverage companies works and what are the possible processes or steps that it follows.
Skills Development: Invested six weeks to develop business skills (e.g., communication, leadership, problem-solving, teamwork, etc.) that will help me make a deeper impact on the job.

In this project, we had to select any company of our own choice, and then we had to work on the following areas

1. Give the background of that company.

2. Extract the required data from the Bloomberg terminal.

3. Apply all financial ratios discussed in the class, interpret them, and describe the areas where the company needs improvement.

4. Apply the Free Cash Flow model(assume three years nonconstant and then constant growth), by separately extracting data of every component i-e risk-free rate, risk premium, beta, cost of debt, free cash flows, etc.

5. After calculating the share price through the model, take buying selling decisions through undervalued overvalued criteria.

6. Assumptions and limitations of our model that may get us to the incorrect decision? If any.

We had to work on the following areas in the project:

1. Select any hypothetical manufacturing company, and assume the required data i.e direct material, direct labor, and other manufacturing and non-manufacturing expenses.

2. Apply manufacturing overhead through traditional or ABC costing method, whichever is appropriate, and justify why u have applied a particular method.

3. Prepare the master budget at four quarters and total for the year and also prepare financial statements for the year.

4. Calculate Break even in units and in Rupees and also prove that break-even by making the income statement. Calculate and interpret the margin of safety, operating leverage.

5. Assume that economy will not perform well, so you are required to make expected changes in sales, price, cost, or any other component which seems to be affected by the economic downturn. Through sensitivity analysis suggest any lucrative strategy for the company.

Prepared a written research report on that assigned publically traded company (Listed in Pakistan Stock Exchange), and then presented the findings as final project presentation. We incorporated information available on Bloomberg Professional Terminal, by using the terminal in an equity-focused security analysis functions.

We this project we compared FFC with Engro keeping in consideration their Financial Statement techniquesIn terms of better liquidity, FFC is more stable than Engro. Inventory turnover rates of FFC is very impressive as compared with Engro. Similarly Return on equity is FFC is 10% greater than Engro. So in terms of profitability FFC’s performance is very aimpressive if we compare both companies.

For this project, everyone had to use the following dates of different countries by using Bloomberg Terminal.

1. Market index: monthly returns for the last five years.

2. Any ten stocks: monthly return for the last five years.

3. Treasury bill: current return.

4. Compare the optimal portfolio consisting of ten stocks (without shot selling constraint) with the market (index) portfolio, which one is better and where would you invest?

5. Assume any value of the coefficient of risk aversion (A), calculate how much you would invest in optimal or market portfolio, and the T-bill? Also, show the indifference curve touching that point.

We worked on the ICI company that was publicly traded and had at least one year of trading history and one set of annual financial statements. We worked on the following areas:1. Corporate Governance Analysis2.Stockholder Analysis3. Risk and Return4. Capital Structure Choices5. Dividend Policy6. Valuation

Research: Can Financial Innovation Solve Household Reluctance to Take Risk

The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of financial innovation on household reluctance to take risks. For this study, the variables data have been collected through questionnaire from the household workaholics, business professions and basically adults who are working in any organization and are involved in financial transactions
This research implies that households who are involved in financial innovation techniques, have financial literacy and get easily acquainted with their financial products innovation can assess more risks in the financial securities and they possess risk taking behavior. Due to that, they are more able to exploit the best securities and earn more returns on those securities.

Critically analyzed OGDCL by evaluating and comparing its liquidity, profitability, and efficiency with the industry and did company valuation using Bloomberg terminal.
I was the Team Lead.
Company valuation: We found that the calculated intrinsic price per share of OGDCL was equivalent to the market price, so the buyers could be indifferent while buying the stocks.
Financial performance: Other than liquidity ratios, the company’s financial performance was better than average industry’s performance hence investors were recommended to weigh the performance and set their priority.

Developed as comprehensive case on Dubai DOF Sukuk issued by Dubai DOF Sukuk Limited
Practicability of Islamic Finance: We found that Islamic instruments are turning out to be the best source of financing in Muslim as well as non-Muslim world. There are more non-Muslim user of the stated instrument and this will lead Islamic instruments to the blue ocean.
Limitations: We observed that Islamic securities and assets are not immune to interest rate because of unavailability of Islamic benchmarking and dominancy of interest-based conventional finance.
Skills Development: Developed skills of writing case, analyzing data, reviewing literature, understanding interdependency among multiple variables, etc.
