Geologist

We are seeking a skilled geologist with expertise in coal mining to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in our mining operations, providing geological insights and strategic direction to optimize resource extraction while minimizing environmental impact.

Responsibilities:

Conduct geological fieldwork, including mapping, sampling, and data collection, to characterize geological formations and features.
Analyze geological data, including core samples, well logs, and seismic data, to interpret subsurface geology and predict coal seam characteristics.
Prepare geological reports, maps, and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations for clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
Monitor mining operations to ensure compliance with geological plans and regulatory requirements.
Continuously evaluate and improve exploration and mining techniques to enhance productivity and sustainability.
Provide technical expertise and support to resolve geological challenges and optimize coal recovery.
Participate in interdisciplinary teams to assess environmental impacts and develop mitigation strategies.
Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes relevant to mining.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in geology, mining engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Proven experience in coal exploration and mining or in a similar role.
Strong knowledge of geological principles, including stratigraphy, sedimentology, and structural geology.
Proficiency in geological mapping, interpretation of geological data, and geological modeling software.
Familiarity with mining methods, equipment, and safety protocols in coal mining operations.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex geological data and make informed decisions.
Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and interact with stakeholders.
