Position summary

The Livelihood Coordinator position for the "Building Resilience and Addressing Vulnerabilities to Emergencies" project involves overseeing livelihood-related activities aimed at enhancing community resilience. The Livelihood Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the implementation and management of both on-farm and off-farm livelihood interventions under the BRAVE program, with a specific focus on the climate resilience component. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating livelihood activities aimed at enhancing the economic resilience of vulnerable communities in the face of climate-related emergencies. This position requires strong leadership, project management, and technical skills to ensure the successful implementation of livelihood interventions in line with program objectives and donor requirements. The role also involves providing technical oversight and support to implementing partners for smooth project implementation in program districts of KP province.

The position holder will provide technical support to implementing partners to achieve the program objectives, which include implementing livelihood strategies to address climate-related vulnerabilities, promoting climate-smart agriculture practices, capacity building for sustainable livelihoods, stakeholder engagement, and partnership development.

The position holder will provide guidance as well as be in charge for implementation of all Livelihood related actions through WHH partners under the guidance of Technical Working Group of project. The position will further assure proper implementation and quality management in accordance with donor regulations as well as in compliance with Welthungerhilfe’s global standards.

The Livelihood Coordinator will also facilitate collaboration with various stakeholders, such as research institutions, government agencies, and the private sector, to enhance the project's impact and ensure the long-term sustainability of climate-resilient livelihoods. By supporting the implementing partner, the Livelihood Coordinator aims to drive the effective execution of the project and contribute to the resilience of vulnerable communities in the face of climate-related challenges.

Core Areas of Responsibilities

Technical Inputs

  • Developing and implementing livelihood strategies and action plans in collaboration with program partners and stakeholders to address climate-related vulnerabilities and enhance community resilience.
  • Conducting assessments and providing technical support to implementing partners, consortium, for identification, selection, and implementation of on-form and off-form livelihood interventions, including Climate smart agriculture, income-generating activities, and natural resource management.
  • Providing technical guidance and capacity building support to project staff, community members, and partner organizations on sustainable livelihood practices, climate-smart agriculture, value chain development, and income diversification.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the progress of livelihood interventions, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and performance indicators.
  • To support IP for facilitating community participation and ownership in livelihood activities through participatory approaches, community mobilization, and capacity building initiatives.
  • Collaborating with relevant government agencies, NGOs, private sector actors, and research institutions to leverage resources, expertise, and opportunities for livelihood enhancement and climate resilience.
  • Preparing timely and accurate reports, case studies, and documentation of best practices, lessons learned, and success stories related to livelihood interventions.
  • Contributing to program planning, budgeting, and proposal development processes, ensuring alignment with program objectives and donor priorities.
  • Staying updated on emerging trends, innovations, and best practices in livelihood development, climate resilience, and disaster risk reduction to inform program design and implementation.

Management

  • Develop and apply a knowledge management system accessible to all staff and stakeholders, covering all program activities and objectives, to be used to generate evidence for program. Ensure that all livelihood related activities result in exchange and learning.
  • Conducting policy research on climate-smart agriculture, integrated pest management, and watershed management in coordination with knowledge hubs. Engaging with relevant stakeholders, including government authorities, to advocate for the adoption of climate-smart agriculture practices based on research outputs.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to partner organizations in the implementation of livelihood programs.
  • Conducting training sessions and capacity-building activities for partners to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge for implementation of livelihood interventions.
  • Monitoring partner performance and progress towards project goals, including regular field visits and assessments.
  • Evaluating partner activities to ensure alignment with project objectives and compliance with donor requirements.
  • Facilitating coordination and communication between partners, stakeholders, and project staff.
  • Addressing challenges and providing solutions to enhance partner capacity and effectiveness.
  • Managing relationships with partners, including resolving conflicts and fostering collaboration.
  • Ensuring proper documentation and reporting of partner activities and project outcomes.
  • Supporting partners in budget management and resource allocation for livelihood initiatives.
  • Continuously reviewing and improving partnership strategies to maximize impact and sustainability.

 Compliance

  • Ensure quality control and contractual compliance and monitor financial integrity of all actions related to the implementation of the livelihood interventions. Maintain and manage an internal database with contacts, Terms of references, contracts, material, tools, publication, etc.
  • Inform all stakeholder and specifically project teams about global requirements and standards.
  • Ensure that all assigned tasks and their outcomes are in line with WHH and donor standards, accountable and inclusive for all target groups, including all gender, age and disability.
  • Ensure that all material is in line with governmental, WHH and donor standards.
  • Ensure accountability to all stakeholders and uniform messaging across all units involved in the project.

 Coordination

  • The role requires strong communication and coordination skills, along with experience in livelihood programming and project management.
  • Provide applicable and accessible information to each stakeholder group.
  • Support the local partners in designing the plans for capacity building of relevant department officials on sustainable food and nutrition strategy, and other FNS related aspects.
  • Assist the sector advisor in regular coordination with planning and development department, KP for implementation of MINS, learning and knowledge sharing at district and provincial level.
  • Assist the Advisor and local partners to establish close coordination and cooperation with district line agencies and authorities, and between local project partners, communities, and other stakeholders for the effective delivery of project activities and policy influence at local level.
  • Communicate relevant information regularly to the Sector Advisor, project staff, consortium members, partners and other relevant stakeholders in KP.
  • Mobilize partner organizations, stakeholders and target communities as per the agreement reached with the consortium to fulfil the objectives of the project.
  • Assist the Sector advisor to follow up on terms and conditions and any agreements signed or agreed with other third parties including communities, local authorities, service providers, or material suppliers, to achieve the project objectives timely and with the desired quality.
  • The role requires strong communication and coordination skills, along with experience in livelihood programming and project management.

 Partnership

Develop strategic partnerships with key stakeholders to elicit support for and maximize the impact of the project objectives.

Efficiently build and coordinate a network of all key stakeholders at district, provincial and national level in the interest of the program. Engage with parliamentarians, relevant groups and right-based initiatives. Liaise with consortia, network and alliance in consultation and endorsement by the Project Coordinator/Advisor.

Ensure that capacities of the implementing partner and WHH in terms of evidence-based advocacy, knowledge management, learning and experience sharing are sustainably built.

 Job Requirements

Knowledge and Qualification

  • A university degree in agriculture or any relevant discipline.
  • 4 to 7 years' professional experience working in the relevant sector.
  • Working experience with a partnership approach.
  • Fluent in English, Urdu (written and oral), Good knowledge of local language(s) would be an added value.
