Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and maintenance of Python-based scripts and applications for data processing, analysis, and automation, guiding the team to ensure high-quality code and timely delivery.
  • Provide strategic direction in designing, implementing, and optimizing REST and GraphQL APIs to facilitate seamless data exchange between systems and applications, while also mentoring junior developers in API design principles.
  • Support front-end development with experience of independently creating user interfaces to interact with data and APIs.
  • Manipulate large datasets efficiently to extract valuable insights and support business objectives. - Provide guidance and mentorship to ensure a comprehensive understanding of data structures among team members, emphasizing efficient storage, retrieval, and manipulation of data.
  • Take charge in deploying and managing production-grade data tooling solutions such as Informatica, DataHub, etc., overseeing the implementation process and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Lead the implementation of robust security measures to safeguard sensitive data throughout its lifecycle, while also ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards, and educating team members on security best practices.
  • Drive automation initiatives and incorporate DevOps best practices to optimize data pipelines, deployment processes, and overall system reliability.

Essential Criteria

  • Proficient in Python, adept at developing robust tools and scripts tailored for data quality assurance (QA) and implementing novel features within our expansive open-source catalogue.
  • Skilled in developing REST APIs using Python frameworks like Flask or Django.
  • Familiar with front-end tech (HTML, JavaScript) for basic UI creation.
  • Experienced in data manipulation using Pandas, NumPy, and SQL.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, data quality management, and data tooling concepts.
  • Previous exposure to deploying data tools like Informatica or other similar data catalogs, with expertise in data security, compliance, automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and open-source contributions on GitHub.

This job opportunity is located in Scotland, UK. We will sponsor a work permit for the right individual, but relocation costs will be the responsibility of the candidate. Please be aware that there will be a coding exercise before the interview and a live coding test during the interview process. The salary range will be around £60,000 to £65,000 per annum.
