Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:  The incumbent will develop pro-active media, donors and other stakeholder’s engagement strategy to strengthen and develop strategic partnership encompassing print, electronic and social media outlets in an integrated manner. Develop, Foundation’s communication material (electronic and written),  Maintain HF’s website and other interactive modes of communication.

Main Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Work with Senior Management team and develop a comprehensive communication strategy including HF website, internet and other social networking sites and as well as in-house and externally commissioned publications, literature, audio and visual promotional material etc.
  • Develop, revise and implement appropriate protocols to ensure that HF’s communications are timely, effective, efficient and reach out in most effective manner to as wider audience and stakeholders as possible
  • Develop and implement HF branding strategy
  • Develop pro-active media engagement strategy and establish strategic partnership encompassing print, electronic and social media outlets
  • Administer all aspects of Media Relations including regular liaison with print and electronic media, media queries, interviews, press conferences and news releases.
  • Ensure appropriate representation of the Foundation at donor, partner, and government meetings that could lead to stronger collaboration, strengthen institutional relationship and effective resource mobilization.
  • Identify business development, growth opportunities with institutional donors, funding agencies, trusts and other foundations and maintain good and cordial working relationship
  • Oversee long term fundraising relationships with corporations and potential corporate sponsors
  • Oversee the fundraising events
  • Responsible for shaping and delivering work, which has a significant impact on HF’s public image - and requires sensible judgments and complies with HF policy and procedures.
  • Responsible to provide information to the BOD and Donors on monthly and need bases.
  • Oversee the production and updating of all publications intended for the Foundation’s stakeholders, including research reports, essays and success stories, the Annual Report, the Quarterly progress reports, brochures, the content for HF website and any materials as and when requested by the organization.
  • Responsible for raising awareness of HF and its work through broadcast, print and online media in Pakistan and throughout the world.
  • Notwithstanding the role of the Country Director act as the main spokespersons for HF this will be done in part through forging and maintaining close working relationships with HF staff and relevant stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain an up to date understanding of the HF and socio and political environment and use this knowledge with EMC as appropriate
  • Working with relevant staff, ensure all reporting, promotional and marketing documents, AV material, reports and publications meet internationally acceptable standards of quality.
  • Serves as the company spokesperson to the media and the general public.

Qualification Requirements: Master’s Degree in Mass Communications and have expertise in Social and Media Communications.

Essential Experience, Skills and Competencies

Professional Experience

·         At least seven years relevant experience of working with NGOs preferably INGOs including management of grants and budgets of which  two must be at a senior management level

·         Proven experience of developing and implementing communication systems

·         Experience of producing documents and publications for external audience

·         An excellent understanding of the current international donor environment, funding trends/priorities and in particular knowledge of international donors working the field of economic /social enterprise development

·         Demonstrable experience of successfully developing programmes and securing donor funding

·         Proven experience of donor liaison, reporting and negotiations 

·         Must have proven experience of strategic planning

         Skills

·         Strong leadership qualities that include ability to lead and coordinate a multi-disciplinary team of professionals

·         Ability to work with minimum supervision and in a team environment to achieve maximum results in a cost effective manner

·         Excellent interpersonal skills

·         Written and verbal communication skills in English and Urdu.

·         Strong management skills (staff, finance and time) required to meet tight deadlines

·         Excellent IT skills

·         Excellent negotiation and networking skills

 Personal Competences

·         Willingness to travel to the project areas around the year

·         Proven ability to work under pressure

·         Must be able to embrace and promote diversity within teams and different communities

·         A good team-player who is able to promote the spirit of joined of working at all levels

·         Ability to represent HF in a confident, courteous and coherent manner
