ROLE PURPOSE:
The purpose of the post is to provide strategic, technical and management leadership, for the health and nutrition programs in Pakistan. The Sr. Director Health & Nutrition Implementation will be responsible to ensure quality and appropriateness of health and nutrition programs implementation, supervise and provide support to program implementation, strategize, and provide overall direction of all the health and nutrition programs. The Sr. Director Health & Nutrition Implementation will work at the national level in Pakistan to influence policy and ensure that best practices and lessons learned are utilized to improve existing programs and program development.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
As a member of the Expanded Senior Management Team, contribute to:
Provide quality leadership in the design and implementation of all health and nutrition programming.
Support the Country Office in its ambition to scale up in order to reach many more children in Pakistan.
Active involvement and participation by providing valuable input where required/needed.
Support the SMT to develop an organization culture where team work is applied and commitment and accountability is given value and importance.
Technical Expertise
In collaboration and coordination with the Director Health and Nutrition facilitate the provision of quality and timely technical support to program teams.
Identify and coordinate the acquisition of technical assistance from the Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI) members.
In close coordination with the Director of Health and Nutrition, provide strategic direction to health and nutrition programming to ensure efficient and effective implementation and strategic opportunity for long term development.
Contribute in the donor Proposals and reports.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· Masters level qualification in Public Health or equivalent
· Significant experience (minimum 5 years relevant experience) in managing complex health and nutrition programs and/or relevant field at scale.
· Experience in advocacy at the level of Govt., communities, NGOs, and donor agencies.
· Excellent management and communications skills.
· Ability to analyze and interpret health data.
· Ability to write clear and concise reports.
· Ability to work independently to a high professional standard.
· Fluent spoken & written English language.
· Understanding of security management and willing to live and work within difficult and remote environments, including conflict affected areas (FATA, DIK, Tank, Malakand Division and Balochistan)
· Proven training and capacity building skills.
Poverty is the root cause of every problem in the society, has no doubts worse affects on human life. Traditional gender roles in Pakistan especially in NWFP, which remains indulged in tribal culture, define the woman’s place as in the home and not in the workplace, and define the man as the breadwinner. Consequently, the society invests far less in women than men. Women in NWFP suffer more from poverty of opportunities throughout their lives as compared to other provinces. Economic vulnerability is a key factor in the rise of poverty in Pakistan; vulnerability also arises from social powerlessness, political instability, and ill-functioning institutions. Corruption and political instabilities such as various separatist movements in Baluchistan and Waziristan resulted in reduction of business confidence, deterioration of economic growth, reduced public expenditure, poor delivery of public services, and undermining of the rule of law. The root causes of current unrest in whole country especially FATA and FRS are linked with the absence of the opportunities for youth in all sections of life in general and particular in livelihoods. Active participation of the youth in decision making and development of the area is neglected and never given a chance to decide their fate. This made youth of the area frustrated and restless and compelled them to take part in the unhealthy activities. Poverty and the lack of modern curriculum have proved destabilizing factors for Pakistani society as these causes our youth to be exploited by religious organizations banned by the government to run schools and produce militant literature. Eradication of poverty cannot be brought about by charity, but needs first and foremost empowering the poor, focusing on women, and tapping their tremendous potential.
