Qatar Charity is a Doha-Qatar based International Non-Governmental Organization. Since the inception of QC services in Pakistan early 1992, the organization reflect its greater scope of work to respond to extreme poverty and the Government’s priorities. Project Summary:

With financial support from UNICEF and Qatar Charity in collaboration with Local Government (LG&RDD), Balochistan and Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees (CARS), Qatar Charity is implementing a PATS Plus Project (RRP) for Afghan Refugees and Host Communities in Six Districts of Balochistan i.e., Quetta, Pishin, Muslim Bagh, Loralai, Chaman and Chaghi. The aim of the Project is to declare 100 villages Open Defecation free (ODF) in these Six Districts through Social Mobilization and Capacity Building of Local Community and different Stakeholders, to minimize the water borne diseases and bring a behavior change in the communities for the safe disposal of human excreta.

Job Summary

The DRR & Climate Change Officer must have a strong background in WASH in emergencies, community-based disaster risk reduction (CBDRR) and preparedness. S/he will be responsible for the daily management and execution of QC’s integrated WASH, and DRR program in Baluchistan. The candidate must have demonstrated experience working in emergency settings.

Job Description

  • Provide technical support to field teams to develop capacities related to their roles and responsibilities in the Climate adaptive WASH.
  • Organize and attend regular meetings with government counterparts, contractors, and other counterparts to analyze and evaluate climate resilient designs, processes, facilities, and outcomes to ensure achievement of objectives and attainment of sustainability and/or take corrective action when vital to meet project objectives.
  • Prepare all technical designs, estimation and construction management for the climate responsive WASH facilities. 
  • Improve program efficiency and effectiveness through evidence-based approach and implementation follow-up.
  • Contribute to training and orientation materials development. Document results and lessons learned from WASH program implementation to promote knowledge sharing with counterparts.
  • Lead in the development and implementation of processes, methodologies, and tools to ensure quality implementation of Climate responsive WASH interventions.
  • Establish modalities to ensure sustainability of facilities and Lead the delivery of WASH services to QC standards and / or the national WASH standards, depending on the context.
  • Provide guidance and support to communities and field staff on DRR, Climate Change in water, sanitation, hygiene promotion related issues, to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, sustainability, and impact soundness in their implementation.
  • Ensure that the WASH Monitoring System data collection and reporting is carried out systematically, properly, and timely with quality information.
  • Report regularly on Climate responsive WASH activity implementation, while maintaining accurate records of all relevant WASH performance indicators.
  • Responsible for inclusion of DRR and climate change in all WASH related activities
