MISSION

The incumbent is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements & processes.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Planning:

  • Devise Budget and monitor the expenses.
  • Advise regarding cost-benefit initiatives that involve Capital
  • Monitor the Company’s credit policy and report management accordingly.

Accounts Function:

  • Oversees the daily accounting activities required to maintain the general ledger.
  • Supervises, directs, and reviews the work of the accounting staff (including, but not limited to, cash reconciliations, Company account statement reconciliations, cheque runs, and accounts receivable transactions. fixed asset activity, payroll, accounts payable transactions, debt activity, recording of revenue and expenses, etc.).
  • Maintains organized set of detailed records and files to document financial transactions.
  • Resolves complex accounting issues or assists other team members in resolving financial issues.
  • Reviews general ledger on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy of posting
  • Coordinates monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.

Process Re-engineering

  • Review on-going processes & advise more efficient SOP
  • Train the other team members & relevant stakeholders on new processes
  • Implement approved efficient system
  • Implement new processes and ensure compliance.

Management Reporting

  • Reporting of Profit & Loss statement.
  • Produces financial reports involving the Authority’s trust accounts for monthly board meetings.
  • Fortnightly report payable & receivable
  • Set targets & monitor recoveries.
  • Provide regular reports on risk management to Management.
  • Produces quarterly and annual financial statements and ad hoc financial reports.

Internal Audit Function

  • Carries out value added and risk based audits in all Functions at least once a year to verify adherence to the Company Policies.
  • Reviews financial records and other reports, systems and controls maintained in all functions.
  • Produces timely audit reports to auditors with recommendations aimed at strengthening the overall control environment.
  • Undertakes investigations on frauds and irregularities at management requests and as follow up on regular audit finding.
