Chief Information Officer

Job Summary:

Candidate must have 15+ years of executive IT leadership in large, complex organizations. Results oriented individual with a demonstrated capacity to articulate a vision, engineer solutions, lead project teams, and manage programs, personnel, and budgets is essential. Candidates must have an understanding of information technology trends and issues, including cyber-security threats, and the vision to anticipate and implement future advances in IT as they relate to higher education. Deep background in strategic planning, consensus building, organizational leadership and budgeting is essential.

Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning

  • Define update and implement IT strategy.
  • Manage & coordinate IT across the enterprise.
  • Align IT objectives & programs to enterprise objectives.

Control

  • Align IT Team with enterprise performance objectives.
  • Control performance objectives & control overall technology budget.
  • Define matrix based on overall business objectives.
  • Report performance status.
  • Coordinate overall technology budget.
  • Acquire software/hardware.
  • Select manage and control IT providers.
  • Maximize mix of in-house vs outsourced services.
  • Establish strategic service provider partnership.
  • Align IT risk management with IT objectives.
  • Defer to enterprise operational requirements.
  • Follow IT System Development Methodology (SDM)
  • Plan & manage strategic IT initiatives.
  • Manage application portfolio.
  • Manage IT projects
  • Define standards and architecture.

Service

  • Acquire software/hardware.
  • Select manage and control IT providers.
  • Maximize mix of in-house vs outsourced services.
  • Establish strategic service provider partnership.

Risk Management

  • Align IT risk management with IT objectives.

Business Processes

  • Defer to enterprise operational requirements.
  • Follow IT System Development Methodology (SDM)

Strategic IT Initiatives

  • Plan & manage strategic IT initiatives.
  • Manage application portfolio.
  • Manage IT projects

Enterprise Infrastructure & Application

  • Define standards and architecture.
  • Coordinate (consolidate) IT processes across the enterprise.

Skills: Develop a strong technology strategy, know how to lead in a crisis, Running IT like a business, Email Exchange Server, Hardware Maintenance, financial acumen, accountability and core IT knowledge.

Qualification / Experience / Competencies:

  • Position requires excellent communication skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of technology concepts and principles
  • A strong understanding of the organization’s most pressing problems
  • The ability to communicate the value of innovation
  • The ability to handle cultural resistance
