Communications Officer, WWF–Pakistan

Reporting to : Senior Manager Communications

Personnel Responsibilities : Nil

Duty Station : WWF–Pakistan, Head Office, Lahore

Duration/Type of Contract : Full time / Long term contract

Summary

The communication officer position will be twofold:

1) The officer will be required to support the Press and Media Relations Coordinator in developing and maintaining positive working relationships with targeted online, print and broadcast journalists, editorial writers and columnists

2) The officer will be required to interact with distributors and retailers for the sale of Natura and other WWF-Pakistan publications as well as engage in its marketing and outreach. The incumbent should have a pleasant, dynamic and communicative personality and the ability to engage and convince others.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with targeted online, print and broadcast journalists, editorial writers and columnists.

2. Pursue opportunities to promote WWF–Pakistan’s conservation agenda; compile compelling stories from the field;

3. Execute and monitor media strategies and activities; these include press inquiries, press conferences, one-to-one briefings, press releases and field visits;

4. Collect information for distribution and free sampling of Natura and other WWF-Pakistan publications;

5. Interact with retailers for of WWF-Pakistan publications;

6. Engage with corporates and other organizations to sell ad space in magazine;

7. Provide support to members of the Communications department as and when required.

Selection Criteria

Education and Work Experience

 

  • · Masters/4 year bachelors degree in Mass Communications, English Literature, Advertising, Journalism, Environmental Sciences or any other related subject;
  • · At least 2-3 years relevant professional experience;
  • · Experience/Expertise in editing and creative writing;
  • · Experience of working in a multi-cultural/international environment.

 

Skills and Ability

 

  • · Articulate, creative, passionate;
  • · Excellent written/spoken English and Urdu; other languages will be an advantage;
  • · Attention to detail, diplomacy and discretion;
  • · Ability to work as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment;
  • · Interest in conservation and environmental issues.
