Objectives

ACTED is a non-governmental organization with headquarters in Paris, founded in 1993. Independent, private, and not-for-profit, ACTED respects a strict political and religious impartiality and operates according to the principles of non-discrimination and transparency. ACTED has been present in Pakistan since 1993, with programs ranging from short-term emergency responses to recovery and rehabilitation, as well as longer-term development initiatives. ACTED's strategy is to target vulnerable communities affected by natural and conflict-related disasters as well as lack of socio-economic development.

The Audit Assistant will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of ACTED compliance processes in ACTED Pakistan. The Internal Audit and Compliance Department has been created to provide an independent assurance perspective regarding all ACTED operations, helping to ensure that assets are protected from loss or harm and that resources are used efficiently.

Good organizational and communication skills with international and national staff and rural communities are essential. The Audit Assistant must also demonstrate the ability to travel to the field for data collection, cross-checking data, and providing training to field staff.

Functions

  • Support the Audit Manager in compiling and filing all financial, logistics, administrative, and program information in the designated project Compliance folder, ensuring that all Compliance folders are updated regularly.
  • Assist in performing the due diligence of potential Implementing Partners and prepare a training plan on the weak areas identified during due diligence.
  • Regularly visit implementing partners for hands-on review.
  • At the end of the project, ensure the centralization of all Compliance folders at the Capital office.
  • Facilitate the country Compliance review process once the project has been terminated, ensuring accurate documentation of costs/expenses allocations within the documentation.
  • Submit the completed Compliance folder (final version) to the Audit Manager once the Compliance review process has been completed.
  • Contribute to ACTED compliance and accountability by providing timely supplementary quality control of the Compliance documentation, checking the accuracy and consistency of the information between related documents, and reporting discrepancies immediately to the Audit Manager or concerned department for corrective action.
  • Ensure compliance with all audit recommendations/action plans under the authority of the Country Director/Country Audit Manager and provide accurate feedback.
  • Comply with the Audit Department Code of Conduct and ensure preparation for external audits conducted by donors or external audit firms.
  • Regularly update the Country Audit Manager on progress through relevant follow-up memos.

Reporting

  • Report the updates of the Compliance situation for all projects during compliance meetings.
  • Report on a monthly basis all issues related to the project activities.
  • Regularly flag bottlenecks to the Audit Manager or concerned department head.

Accountability:

All ACTED team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our beneficiaries and to international standards guiding international relief and development work, while actively engaging beneficiary communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring, and evaluation of our field projects.

Social cohesion is a key component to ensuring equitable service provision. ACTED’s interventions include the establishment of local representation bodies as well as supporting the rights of women, minorities and marginalized groups; Pillar 4 – Environmental protection and community resilience – This pillar aims to mitigate some of the effects of recurrent disasters, climate change and environmental degradation.
