Al Ghurair Group is seeking a Senior Draughtsman Electrical specializing in Power, Extra High Voltage (EHV), and Substation projects. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in electrical drafting with a strong focus on the design and detailing of substation layouts, EHV equipment, and power distribution systems. This role demands proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and related drafting tools to produce accurate and detailed designs that adhere to industry standards and organizational guidelines. The Senior Draughtsman collaborates closely with engineering teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and compliant with regulatory codes and standards such as DEWA, SEWA, RTA, TAQA, IEC, and IEEE. The position requires managing a small team of 2 persons, overseeing their work, providing technical guidance, and ensuring timely delivery of projects while maintaining high-quality standards. This role challenges you to take ownership of electrical drafting activities from initial design through to the creation of as-built documentation. You will be responsible for preparing detailed single-line diagrams, cable tray and routing plans, earthing systems, lighting and power layouts, and builders work drawings. An in-depth knowledge of cable sizing, load schedules, voltage drop, and short-circuit calculations is essential to support design accuracy and operational reliability. Experience with software tools such as Revit, Navisworks, Dialux, and Autodesk/BIM certification will be advantageous. This role is pivotal in ensuring electrical drafting meets technical specifications, safety norms, and project timelines for high-voltage substations and power distribution infrastructure.
Responsibilities

Develop and produce detailed electrical drawings and layouts for power, EHV, and substation projects using AutoCAD Electrical and other relevant software.
Design and detail substation equipment, cable routing and management, earthing systems, and lighting systems in compliance with relevant codes and standards (DEWA, SEWA, RTA, TAQA, IEC, IEEE).
Prepare and review single-line diagrams, load schedules, cable sizing, voltage drop, and short-circuit calculations to ensure design accuracy and system reliability.
Manage and provide technical direction to a team of 2 draughtsmen, ensuring adherence to project deadlines, quality standards, and continuous skills development.
Coordinate with engineering, project management, and construction teams to ensure designs meet functional, safety, and performance requirements.
Produce builders work drawings, as-built documentation, and ensure meticulous project record-keeping and version control.
Utilize advanced design software including Revit, Navisworks, and Dialux to enhance design visualization, coordination, and accuracy.
Ensure compliance with electrical codes, legal requirements, and corporate policies throughout the drafting and design process.
Conduct regular quality reviews, identify discrepancies early, and implement corrective actions to maintain high standards in deliverables.
Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in electrical drafting and power system design to continuously improve design processes.
