The purpose of this job is to diagnose and treat ophthalmic diseases, perform eye examinations, and assisting in surgical procedures. They are also responsible for patient education, documentation, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, including visual acuity testing, slit-lamp biomicroscopy, tonometry, and funduscopy.
  • Review of infected-admitted cases every day.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments, medical history, and diagnostic findings.
  • Prescribe medications, eye drops, or other therapeutic interventions to manage eye diseases and alleviate symptoms.
  • Provide preoperative and postoperative care for patients undergoing ophthalmic surgeries.
  • Assist senior ophthalmologists in surgical procedures.
  • Participate in surgical rounds, postoperative assessments, and management of surgical complications.
  • Educate patients about their eye conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures.
  • Counsel patients on the importance of compliance with medication regimens, follow-up appointments, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Address patient concerns and questions regarding their eye health and treatment outcomes.
  • Document all aspects of patient care in electronic medical records systems in compliance with hospital and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with referring physicians, specialists, and other healthcare providers regarding patient referrals, consultations, and treatment plans.

Qualifications:

  • MBBS with FCPS in Ophthalmology.
  • Completion of DOMS residency training.
  • Registered with PMDC.
