he blossom of a flower has always been a pleasure for its surroundings. Its beauty, its fragrance and the feel of freshness benefits others while the flower, itself, never enjoys any pleasure of its own. Rising Sun Institute was started with this perceptive as an informal daycare center for a Down’s syndrome child Fatima Ejaz from the dinning room of its founders, Dr. & Mrs. Abdul Tawwab at Nisar Colony Lahore Cantt in September 1984. The number of students kept increasing, when it exceeded the number of chairs, the ‘School’ was shifted to the back veranda of the home. In January 1987 the school was registered with the Department of Special Education Punjab. As the enrollment was ever increasing the school had to be shifted to the ground floor of the annex of their home where by the end of year 1991 there were 32 children in the school. As the number of children further increased the first floor of the annex was also occupied by the school. The need for such school was there and the number of students was rapidly increasing when by the year 1996 it crossed the total number of 65. In May 1999, Brig (R) Pervaiz Bashir Khan the then Station Commander Lahore visited the school and on his request in August 1999, Lt. Gen. (R) Khalid Maqbool, the then commander 4 corps (& later governor of Punjab) visited the school and promised to support the cause of special children. His visit was followed by Maj. Gen. (R) Muhammad Javed then GOC 11 Div. & Chairman DHA. With their kind support, the school shifted from Nisar Colony to in October 1999. At the same time an 8-Kanal Plot was earmarked by (Present location of the institute). A number of friends and philanthropists have been supporting the cause. We also acknowledge the endeavor of all former and present members of Executive Committee of Rising Sun Education & Welfare Society who contributed to the cause of special children, particularly our first President RSE&WS (late) Lt. Col R.M. Yaseen, Mr. Mahmood Ahmad Vice President RSE&WS & Chairman Finance Committee, Rao Naveed Alam Vice President, Mr. SEI Pervaiz, Mr. Osamah Saleem former Finance Secretary, Mr. Mashmood Ahmad, Rao Pervaiz Yaseen, Mian Anjum Mahmood and Lt. Col. (R) Saleem Raza Khan Conveners & Chairmen Construction Committee have contributed in the construction of Defence Campus and renovation of Mughalpura Campus.
