Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre Peshawar is inviting applications for a fellowship in Medical Oncology as part of a well-established training program recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. The center manages a large volume of cancer patients annually, providing fellows with extensive clinical exposure. The program emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care, involving site-specific specialist teams composed of medical, radiation, and surgical oncologists, along with specialty physicians, radiologists, and pathologists. This collaborative environment offers a comprehensive learning experience in managing both solid tumors and hematological malignancies. Fellows will be trained to meet international standards of oncology practice, with a strong focus on research and academic development.
Key Responsibilities:
The fellowship spans three years, during which selected candidates will rotate through various site-specific oncology teams to gain broad exposure across the oncology spectrum. Under the supervision of consultant oncologists, fellows will receive regular appraisals to monitor and support their progress. Clinical duties include managing patient care in outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, and chemotherapy units. Fellows will also participate in an on-call rota to assess and manage patients presenting to the emergency assessment room. Active involvement in the department’s academic activities is expected, including delivering presentations, engaging in research projects, conducting audits, and teaching junior doctors and nursing staff.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed FCPS in Internal Medicine and hold a valid registration with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) or Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC).
This fellowship offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in medical oncology within a multidisciplinary and research-oriented environment. The training prepares fellows to become highly qualified oncologists capable of delivering care at international standards.
