Head of Last Mile

Key Responsibilities

- Own and drive the vision, strategy, and execution of last mile delivery operations.
- Lead a high-performing team across multiple regions to ensure consistent and reliable delivery services.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Technology, Fulfillment, and Customer Experience teams to enhance delivery workflows, systems, and overall customer satisfaction.
- Oversee daily delivery operations, ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs), optimizing routes, and reducing cost per delivery.
- Ensure timely, complete deliveries with minimal failures and maximum customer satisfaction.
- Design and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for fleet utilization, route planning, and issue resolution.
- Manage a fleet of over 300 owned and aggregated vehicles, including motorbikes, vans, and commercial vehicles.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, vehicle maintenance, and fuel efficiency standards.
- Develop and optimize hub-and-spoke models, line-haul planning, and city-based delivery frameworks.
- Track and improve key performance indicators such as cost per order, on-time delivery rate, failed delivery rate, delivery time per order, and rider productivity.
- Lead, coach, and develop last mile operations teams including Area Managers, Supervisors, and Riders.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Define KPIs, career paths, and training requirements for operational staff.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to design tools for rider tracking, order assignment, automated routing, and mobile applications.
- Explore partnerships or adoption of last mile platforms (e.g., Locus) to enhance optimization and scalability.

Required Qualifications

- 6 to 10 years of experience in logistics or last mile delivery operations, preferably within high-growth e-commerce, Q-commerce, or tech-driven logistics environments.
- Proven track record in managing delivery models effectively.
- Strong understanding of fleet management, vehicle aggregation, and route optimization.
- Data-driven mindset with proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, dashboards, and basic SQL or business intelligence tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills.
- Experience working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with a builder’s mindset.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related fields.
- Experience scaling last mile operations in marketplaces or technology platforms.
- Familiarity with lean operations methodologies such as Six Sigma or Kaizen is a plus.
