An ICU Technician plays a critical role in the intensive care unit by providing continuous monitoring and support to critically ill patients. They operate and maintain life-supporting medical equipment, ensuring proper function and timely responses to any patient emergencies. The technician works closely with healthcare professionals to deliver effective patient care, focusing on ventilator management, cardiac life support, and infection control protocols. This role demands hands-on expertise in advanced medical equipment, real-time data acquisition, and accurate interpretation of diagnostic signals such as ECG and blood gas analysis. The ICU Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of essential devices, promptly responding to emergency situations, and following strict infection control guidelines to ensure patient safety. The ideal candidate has a BS degree in a related field and at least two years of experience, demonstrating a strong commitment to delivering precise and compassionate critical care support.
Responsibilities

  • Provide basic first-aid treatment as needed
  • Respond appropriately to emergency calls
  • Knowledge of basic life support procedures, performing CPR and AED usage.
  • Assist nurses and physicians in initial patient assessment upon arrival to the emergency department
  • Measure and record patients vital signs
  • Provide basic care such as wound dressing, applying ice packs or heat pads, and cleaning wounds
  • Assist in procedures in minor OT
  • Perform and assist with procedures such as catheter insertion, phlebotomy (drawing blood), and ECGs.
  • Prepare equipment and supplies for medical procedures, including setting up IVs, monitoring equipment, and sterilizing instruments
  • Perform and assist doctors and nurses during critical procedures like intubations, resuscitations, and suturing
  • Safely assist with transferring and positioning patients to and from stretchers, beds, and wheelchairs
  • Regularly check and stock patient rooms, supply carts, and procedure trays with necessary equipment and medical supplies
  • Clean and sterilize medical equipment after each use to maintain infection control standards
  • Monitor and ensure the functionality of medical equipment and promptly report any issues

  • Accurately document patient interactions, treatments administered, and procedures performed

  • Reporting of the malpractices to the hospital administration in a timely manner
  • To enter the data in the registers provided by the HCIP and the hospital administration regularly.
  • Only use cell phone to check for messages in the hospital whatsapp groups, patient care related issue and to answer only emergency calls from others in the contact list
  • Understands and follow the organization and the hospital administrations zero tolerance policy on the use of cell phone for secretive video and audio recordings and photo capturing.
  • Understands and follow the zero tolerance policy of the hospital administration and the organization on sexual harassment.
  • Understands and follow the zero tolerance policy of the hospital administration and the organization on violence, altercation, any physical or verbal demonstration or expression of a gesture or an intent to physically attack others or hurling threats at others.
  • Understands and follow the organizations and the hospital administrations no tolerance policy on weapons, drugs, addiction and the standard practice involved in the use of controlled medicine list.
  • To be available for any cover duties should the need may occur and as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Safeguard hospital equipment, assets & property under your duty area.
  • Inform supervisor and hospital administration immediately if any malfunction or damage found of hospital equipment, assets or property
  • Maintain courteous behavior with patients, visitors and colleagues.
  • In case patient is facing any problem, he/ she listens to patients problems and tries to solve the problem to the best of possibility.
  • Attends necessary trainings as advised by organization.
  • Follows hospital infection control and waste management protocols.
  • Any other duty assigned by supervisor.
