You'll be responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, understanding plan benefits, and confirming eligibility to ensure smooth billing and reimbursement processes. You’ll be a critical part of the revenue cycle process, helping prevent claim denials and delays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for patients via payer portals and phone calls.
- Document verified details including copay, deductible, out-of-pocket maximums, and coverage limitations.
- Communicate findings to internal billing teams for further processing.
- Identify and escalate coverage issues or discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance guidelines and payer requirements.
- Meet daily/weekly targets and maintain a high level of accuracy.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in US healthcare billing or VOB/Eligibility verification.
- Strong understanding of insurance terminology (PPO, HMO, EPO, etc.).
- Familiarity with payer portals and clearinghouses.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Must be comfortable working night shifts.
