Senior Accountant

Working hours: 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm PKT

A reputable UK-based accountancy firm is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join its small accounts team in Rawalpindi.

This role requires proven experience leading a team of accountants, together with 3 to 5 years of experience working with UK firms or UK clients, and strong knowledge of bookkeeping, VAT, accounts preparation, and tax work.

Previous experience in an accountancy firm is preferred.


Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of accountants, ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
  • Review bookkeeping, VAT returns, accounts preparation, and tax work to maintain high technical standards.
  • Allocate work across the team and monitor deadlines, workloads, and performance.
  • Provide guidance, training, and day-to-day support to team members.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records, including posting invoices, bank transactions, journals, and other ledger entries.
  • Reconcile bank accounts regularly to verify financial data and ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare VAT returns in advance of deadlines and oversee their submission for review.
  • Compile and prepare final accounts, company tax returns, personal tax returns, and partnership tax returns adhering to UK accounting standards.
  • Managing client portfolios to ensure all financial tasks and deadlines are met promptly.
  • Complete and submit timesheets within established deadlines to maintain accurate records of work hours.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality concerning all client and company financial information.
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in Xero accounting software and Microsoft Excel for accurate data management and reporting.
  • Work independently while contributing positively as part of the accounts team to support shared goals.
  • Manage multiple deadlines effectively by applying excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of UK accounting regulations and tax legislation to all work assignments.
  • Ensure compliance with VAT laws and regulations, assisting in tax planning and preparation activities.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and colleagues to facilitate smooth financial operations.
  • Identify discrepancies or errors in financial records and take corrective actions promptly.
  • Support continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced work environment by prioritizing tasks and maintaining focus under pressure.
