The Finance Manager at Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI) plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial health of the organization. In addition to handling daily financial operations, the Finance Manager leads risk assessment processes and enforces regulatory compliance to minimize financial risks and safeguard organizational assets. The position requires close collaboration with various departments to monitor cash flow management and optimize budget allocations, directly influencing program success and resource utilization. This role is key to providing actionable financial insights and recommendations that support decision-making at the executive level, thereby fostering an environment of transparency, accountability, and continuous financial improvement within PEI.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of five finance professionals to ensure all financial activities comply with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements to senior management.
- Develop and manage annual budgeting and forecasting processes, aligning financial plans with organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Implement and maintain effective risk management frameworks to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks across all operations.
- Ensure strict adherence to regulatory compliance and reporting obligations to uphold the organizations integrity and reputation.
- Monitor and manage cash flow to support operational needs and long-term financial stability.
- Collaborate with program and department leaders to align financial strategies with operational priorities and project requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in financial processes and systems to enhance productivity and accuracy.
- Provide strategic financial advice and insights to support executive decision-making and organizational growth.
- Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors to facilitate smooth and transparent audit processes.
- Train and mentor finance team members to build capacity and promote professional development within the department.

Traditional gender roles in Pakistan especially in NWFP, which remains indulged in tribal culture, define the woman’s place as in the home and not in the workplace, and define the man as the breadwinner. Consequently, the society invests far less in women than men. Women in NWFP suffer more from poverty of opportunities throughout their lives as compared to other provinces. Economic vulnerability is a key factor in the rise of poverty in Pakistan; vulnerability also arises from social powerlessness, political instability, and ill-functioning institutions. Corruption and political instabilities such as various separatist movements in Baluchistan and Waziristan resulted in reduction of business confidence, deterioration of economic growth, reduced public expenditure, poor delivery of public services, and undermining of the rule of law. The root causes of current unrest in whole country especially FATA and FRS are linked with the absence of the opportunities for youth in all sections of life in general and particular in livelihoods. Active participation of the youth in decision making and development of the area is neglected and never given a chance to decide their fate. This made youth of the area frustrated and restless and compelled them to take part in the unhealthy activities. Poverty and the lack of modern curriculum have proved destabilizing factors for Pakistani society as these causes our youth to be exploited by religious organizations banned by the government to run schools and produce militant literature. Eradication of poverty cannot be brought about by charity, but needs first and foremost empowering the poor, focusing on women, and tapping their tremendous potential.
