The Research Wing of the Institute of Psychiatry, Rawalpindi Medical University is looking to appoint a Research Fellow with experience in population health, mental health, nutrition or equivalent experience to contribute to all the research activities of the NIHR-funded “Centre for Improving Mental and Physical Health Together (IMPACT)”. 

The applicant will be primarily working on the Mental Health Theme of the Centre for IMPACT

In this role, as a Research Fellow in the NIHR Center for IMPACT, you will conduct research under the supervision and mentorship of Dr Asad Tamizuddin, Prof Atif Rehman and Professor Najma Siddiqi.

The Center for IMPACT offers flexible working patterns and several career development initiatives. 

We are looking to appoint an individual who is interested in global mental health and comorbidities and can demonstrate their potential but does not, as yet, have sufficient experience to be fully independent.  Applicants must show evidence of a clear commitment to a research career and success in the form of research publications.

Main purpose of the role

·         To assist in the identification and development of potential areas of research and the development of proposals for independent or collaborative research projects

·         To conduct research under the supervision of senior colleagues and to contribute to the production of research

·         To develop knowledge, skills and experience in an area that will complement the research interests of the NIHR Center for IMPACT Group

·         To contribute to capacity-building through supervision, training and mentorship of members of the DiaDeM group and other researchers

·         To co-ordinate of the NIHR Center for IMPACT Group’s research activities at IoP

Key Responsibilities (Role holders will be required to undertake some or all of the duties below)

·         To conduct high-quality academic research and generate research outputs in the field of applied research that will add to the research portfolio of the Centre for IMPACT.

·         Contribute to the advancement of research following the purpose of the Centre for IMPACT, as well as design and lead high-quality research funding proposals.

·         Conduct and oversee mixed methods research programs that include conducting interviews, focus groups, and surveys as well as analysing the data.

·         In addition, to handle mixed methodologies research projects including multi-county researchers and collaborators.

·         To support and develop public and patient involvement and engagement activities

·         To acquire, record, analyse, and interpret all information pertinent to the research program in a timely and efficient manner to compile detailed summary reports, monthly/quarterly/annual reports, and disseminate them to collaborators, lead organizations, stakeholders, community advisory panels, and/or funders.

·         Contribute to the dissemination of study findings through writing research reports, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at national/international conferences.

·         Applying a good working knowledge of departmental/ service administrative systems to answer research-related queries and resolve problems from local and international team members.

·         Providing effective and efficient administrative support to the research team regarding the trial preparation and difficulties faced during the program

·         Contribute as a supportive team lead by coordinating work completion regularly and keeping a record of team performance.

·         To supervise the research team and support staff by overseeing their work performance.

·         Manager/supervisor following consultation with the post holder.

·         Overseeing the logistical issues of the Trial before and during the trial. 

·          Organizing the meeting with the team regarding trial preparation 

·         Organizing the Zoom meeting with the team.

·         Taking the initiative in providing logistical support and management at the study site. 

·         Keeping a record of trial-specific equipment in the store room. 

·         Noting down and keeping a record of meeting minutes.

·         Performing any other tasks or responsibilities that fall within the scope of the job, as allocated by the programme manager/supervisor/ PI following consultation with the post holder.
