As a Sales Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of sales tax compliance and reporting for our company in Pakistan. You will work closely with our finance and accounting team to ensure accurate and timely filing of sales tax returns and adherence to all relevant tax laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns in compliance with Pakistani tax laws and regulations.
- Reconcile sales tax accounts and ensure accurate recording and reporting of sales tax liabilities.
- Assist in the review and implementation of sales tax policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Monitor changes in sales tax laws and regulations in Pakistan and advise management on potential impact to the business.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve sales tax issues and inquiries from tax authorities.
- Assist in sales tax audits and inquiries by providing supporting documentation and explanations as needed.
- Analyze sales data and transactions to identify potential sales tax issues and opportunities for process improvement.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to sales tax filings and compliance activities.
- Provide training and support to internal teams on sales tax matters and compliance requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's (4 years) degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as ACCA or equivalent is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in sales tax accounting or related field, preferably in Pakistan.
- Strong understanding of Pakistani sales tax laws and regulations.
- Experience with sales tax software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
