Tempo Sports is seeking an experienced Assistant Import Manager to support and enhance our import operations. This role involves managing import transactions, ensuring accurate documentation, coordinating with banks, suppliers, and customs clearing agents, and maintaining compliance with import regulations. The ideal candidate will have practical expertise in handling import documentation, letters of credit, customs procedures, and related banking matters. Additionally, the Assistant Import Manager will oversee a small team and collaborate with various internal departments to ensure smooth and timely processing of all imports. The Assistant Import Manager plays a key role in managing the end-to-end import process, including coordination of international shipments, customs clearance, and tracking of import licenses and permissions. This role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple import transactions simultaneously. The candidate will also be responsible for preparing reports, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the Import Manager in daily import operations and strategic tasks.
Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor all import documentation including Proforma Invoices, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading, and Air Waybills.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to obtain Proforma Invoices, confirm shipment readiness, and ensure all import requirements are communicated and met.
  • Prepare and review import documents to confirm accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Handle import-related banking documentation such as Letters of Credit, amendments, bank correspondence, and payment-related transactions.
  • Coordinate closely with banks regarding LC opening, document submission, discrepancy resolutions, and other import banking aspects.
  • Assist in customs clearance by liaising with clearing agents to file and process Goods Declarations (GD) in a timely manner.
  • Work proactively on platforms such as Pakistan Single Window (PSW) and other relevant customs and government portals for import activities.
  • Maintain and monitor electronic filing system (EFS) and keep track of import licenses, permissions, quotas, and records essential for import compliance.
  • Ensure thorough documentation and record-keeping of all import transactions for audit and management review purposes.
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers, banks, customs agents, freight forwarders, and internal teams to facilitate seamless import shipment operations.
  • Monitor pending import documents, approvals, and clearance matters and conduct timely follow-ups to prevent delays.
  • Prepare periodic import reports and maintain comprehensive records to provide insights and support decision-making for management.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable customs, banking, and import regulations to minimize risk and maintain compliance.
  • Support the Import Manager with day-to-day import operations and other assigned responsibilities to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Lead and supervise a small import team, providing guidance, delegation, and performance support to achieve operational targets.
