Cashier

The Vital Mart seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Cashier to join our team. The Cashier plays a crucial role in providing excellent customer service by efficiently processing transactions using the Point Of Sale (POS) system, handling cash accurately, and maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor. This position requires a focused individual with good time management skills who can contribute to a smooth and efficient checkout process while ensuring customer satisfaction. This role does not involve managing a team but requires strong individual responsibility to monitor POS systems, handle transactions securely, and address customer inquiries with professionalism. The Cashier ensures the accurate handling of cash and electronic payments, maintains the checkout areas cleanliness and organization, and supports day-to-day store operations by adhering to company policies and procedures. This position is ideal for candidates with at least one year of experience in retail or customer-facing roles.
Responsibilities

Operate the Point Of Sale (POS) system accurately to process customer purchases and returns.
Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions securely and efficiently, ensuring accuracy in all financial exchanges.
Provide outstanding customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and assisting with issues at the checkout.
Monitor and maintain the POS system to ensure it functions correctly and report any technical issues promptly.
Manage the cash drawer by balancing cash receipts at the beginning and end of shifts.
Ensure proper identification is collected for authorized payment methods as required by store policies.
Maintain a clean and organized checkout area to promote efficiency and a positive shopping experience.
Follow all company policies, including safety, security, and operational procedures.
Assist in managing product inventory displays near the checkout area and replenish stock when necessary.
Handle customer complaints or concerns professionally and escalate issues to the supervisor when required.
Collaborate with other store team members to support store operations and special promotions.
Manage time effectively to minimize wait times and maintain steady customer flow during peak hours.
