The Case Management Officer plays a vital role within the Programme team, situated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, focusing on the protection and support of vulnerable children including unaccompanied and separated minors. This position requires conducting comprehensive Best Interest Assessments and Determinations to establish individualized intervention plans that address child protection risks effectively. The officer ensures continuous follow-up and updates of case files, coordinates referrals to appropriate child protection services, and promotes the participation of children in decisions affecting them. Working under the supervision of the Case Management Supervisor and CP Manager, the role demands a high level of professionalism, integrity, and empathy while adhering strictly to organizational safeguarding and data protection policies. This position does not supervise others but involves close collaboration with service providers and participation in interdisciplinary panels to ensure the best outcomes for children. The officer manages a small team of one person, enabling effective coordination and case oversight. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, experience in humanitarian or child protection contexts, and the ability to handle sensitive cases with confidentiality and compassion. The incumbent must be prepared for fieldwork and travel, bringing specialized knowledge in child protection principles, case management guidelines, and relevant legal frameworks. Masters level education in social sciences or law, combined with hands-on experience in child protection case management, is necessary to successfully navigate the complexities of this responsibility and contribute to the broader goals of safeguarding children's rights and well-being.
Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough Best Interest Assessments (BIA) and Best Interest Determinations (BID) for unaccompanied, separated, and other at-risk children to identify protection risks and determine appropriate interventions.
  • Develop and implement individualized case plans that address the assessed needs and vulnerabilities of each child, ensuring their safety, well-being, and long-term interests.
  • Maintain regular case follow-ups and update BIAs/BIDs to reflect changes or developments, adjusting interventions as necessary.
  • Prepare and present BID cases to the BID Panel with well-founded recommendations that focus on the childs best interests.
  • Facilitate referrals to relevant child protection and support services, including psychosocial support, legal aid, health care, cash assistance, and family tracing and reunification programs, ensuring a holistic approach to child welfare.
  • Ensure the accurate, confidential, and timely maintenance of case records and databases aligned with data management protocols and data protection policies.
  • Promote and facilitate childrens participation in all stages of decision-making processes related to their protection and care.
  • Implement and monitor established child protection referral pathways and coordinate with external service providers to guarantee timely and effective access to services.
  • Collaborate closely with supervisors on complex or high-risk cases, escalating cases that require higher-level intervention promptly.
  • Participate actively in regular case review meetings, supervision sessions, and apply technical guidance to improve case management outcomes.
  • Provide specialized case management support during voluntary return processes at Voluntary Repatriation Centers, paying particular attention to risks associated with transit and family separation.
  • Engage in field visits, outreach activities, and awareness-raising sessions to strengthen child protection efforts within the community and improve program outreach.
  • Contribute to program reporting by providing detailed case-related information, success stories, and lessons learned to support continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Adhere rigorously to all organizational policies, including safeguarding, prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, data protection, and professional code of conduct.
  • Innovate and implement best practices in child protection case management and programming.
  • Perform other related child protection duties as assigned by the supervisor to support the overall goals of the organization.
