Job Responsibilities:
1. Legal Counsel:
Provide expert legal advice and guidance to the HR and administrative teams on matters related to labor law, employment contracts, workplace policies, and other legal regulations.
Review and draft employment contracts, non-disclosure agreements, severance agreements, and other legal documents to ensure compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
Advise on employment disputes, including disciplinary actions, terminations, and grievances, aiming to mitigate legal risks and maintain a fair and consistent approach.
2. Compliance and Regulations:
Stay up-to-date with relevant laws and regulations in the real estate and employment sectors, ensuring the company's policies and practices remain compliant.
Collaborate with internal departments to establish and implement processes that adhere to legal requirements, promoting ethical and lawful conduct.
3. Employment Practices:
Collaborate with the HR team to develop, update, and implement company policies, employee handbooks, and procedures that reflect legal standards and best practices.
Assist in designing and conducting training programs to educate employees and managers about legal obligations, anti-discrimination measures, and workplace behavior.
4. Contracts and Agreements:
Review and negotiate contracts with vendors, suppliers, and partners to safeguard the company's legal interests and manage potential risks.
Work closely with the real estate development team to analyze and negotiate property transactions, lease agreements, and related legal documents.
5. Dispute Resolution:
Represent the company in legal matters related to HR and administrative issues, including negotiations, settlements, and litigation, if necessary.
Collaborate with external legal counsel when specialized expertise is required for complex legal matters.
6. Risk Management:
Identify potential legal risks within the HR and administrative functions and recommend proactive measures to minimize exposure and liability.
Develop crisis management strategies to address legal issues promptly and effectively, preserving the company's reputation.
7. Stakeholder Communication:
Communicate legal concepts and implications clearly to various stakeholders, including management, employees, and external partners.
Provide guidance on legal matters to executives, ensuring well-informed decision-making that aligns with the company's strategic goals.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active state bar membership.
Proven experience (5+ years) practicing employment law, preferably within the real estate or construction industry.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
