Pak Mission Society (PMS), a national non-governmental and not-for-profit organization established in 2004, is seeking a qualified consultant or firm to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study for the Green Churches Initiative (GCI) Phase-II in Faisalabad, Pakistan. This 12-month consultancy, commencing November 1, 2024, aims to expand on the pilot phase’s success by promoting sustainable environmental practices among local churches and communities. The project emphasizes climate change awareness, improved waste management, resource efficiency, tree plantation, solar energy adoption, and organic farming. It engages diverse stakeholders to enhance community resilience while aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-6, SDG-7, and SDG-13).
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct a thorough desk review of national and local waste management policies, legal frameworks, and documentation from GCI Phase-I.
- Perform an extensive market assessment of waste streams in Faisalabad, including quantification, classification, and geospatial analysis of waste generation patterns. Map key actors such as recyclers, SMEs, and waste management companies.
- Analyze consumer preferences, market size, growth potential, and competitive landscape for recycled and upcycled products, identifying demand-supply gaps and pricing structures.
- Carry out a technical feasibility analysis of at least three green business models, assessing raw material availability, environmental conditions, community skills, scalability, and technical specifications.
- Evaluate financial viability, including capital and operating expenditures, revenue projections, sensitivity analysis, and potential financing options such as grants, loans, and public-private partnerships.
- Assess environmental and social sustainability impacts, including greenhouse gas emission reductions, resource efficiency, job creation, gender inclusion, occupational health and safety, and community acceptance.
- Review relevant laws, regulations, and policies to identify barriers and recommend reforms supporting green business initiatives.
- Engage stakeholders through interviews, surveys, focus group discussions, and validation workshops involving government agencies, community groups, churches, NGOs, and marketing stakeholders.
- Develop suitable green business models, investment strategies, capacity-building plans, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, policy recommendations, and a detailed implementation roadmap.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Environmental Studies, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in market assessments, feasibility studies, or enterprise development, with proven expertise in waste management, recycling, circular economy, and green business initiatives.
- Experience working with donor-funded projects, NGOs, or public-private partnerships.
- Strong analytical, report writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Fluency in local languages and knowledge of the local context is advantageous.
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills, particularly in participatory and interactive training delivery.
