Job Description:

The Senior Systems Engineer, Microsoft is a technical role that is responsible for the design, development, implementation, support, maintenance, and optimization of our customers’ infrastructure. The Senior Systems Engineer focuses on evaluating customers environments, supporting customers systems, responding to customer requests, and implementing project work; Individually and with support of the Systems Operations teams. Additionally, the Senior Systems Engineers will also lead the resolution of the most complex critical outages as the escalation support related to servers, storage, and other technical equipment and cloud infrastructure. This role utilizes documented customer procedures, ITIL best practices, technical skill sets, and soft skills in order to provide an excellent customer experience through systems implementation and optimization.  

Responsibilities:

  • Review customer environments by evaluating the hardware and software in relations to the operational, and performance requirements of our customer’s overall environments.
  • Design high quality systems architecture, and drive activities that are aligned with requirements and consistent with Microsoft architectural standards.
  • Provide technical mentoring, assistance, and direction to Systems teams, ensuring technologies work together effectively to improve systems performance and that change requests are implemented.
  • Deliver billable work, including migration and implementation work.
  • Lead the resolution of highly complex issues when escalated to the Systems Operations  team.
  • Proactively identify problems before they occur.
  • Participate as a technical account lead in customer meetings to review performance, identify opportunities for continuous improvement and recommendations to optimize environments for cost and performance
  • Document customer environments and steps taken to resolve issues or complete tasks.
  • Provide ticket updates, time tracking, and current status through ServiceNow.
  • Document and follows standard processes and procedures including change management processes, escalation processes, notification processes, and customer issue resolution processes.
  • Provide on call escalation support.

Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Microsoft365 Enterprise Administrator Expert preferred.  Other acceptable certifications are:  MS-203, MS-220, AZ-104, AZ-303, AZ-304, AZ-305, MS-100 combined with MS101 or MD100 combined with MD101 and at least 5 years working as a Systems Engineer with a focus on Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Exchange Online or equivalent job roles and experience.
  • Highly organized with the ability to execute on multiple technical incidents and projects simultaneously.
  • Highly advanced technical experience with setup and deployment of infrastructure environments, customer use cases, and operational understanding of enterprise-level systems, servers, storage, networks in both Cloud and on-premise Managed Services environments. 
  • Advanced technical knowledge and experience in the following areas: , Microsoft Exchange and Exchange Online, Operating Systems and Domain Architecture, VMware and Azure Virtualization, Security and authorization, Multi-factor authentication, Disaster Recovery, Server Management, Azure Active Directory and on-premise Active Directory. 
  • Migrations, ADMT and Exchange. Intune and AutoPilot.  SharePoint, Backup Systems and Anti-Phishing systems are a plus.
  • Self-starter: uses an appropriate sense of urgency and is capable of resolving complex technical problems and requests both independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Willingness and desire to continue advancing technical expertise through collaboration with Engineers and Architects, and pursuit of technical certifications.
  • Ability to educate, train, and mentor others on Systems technologies.
  • Have highly advanced communication skills (written, verbal, presentation).
  • Ability to follow and document standard processes and procedures.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment, maintain a positive attitude, and quickly adapt to changing priorities and new technologies.
  • Ability to work assigned shift and on call rotation.
