Job Summary
We are looking for a competent and detail-oriented Control Room Operator (CRO) to manage and oversee the operation of plant and field equipment from the control room. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in utility or industrial environments and a solid understanding of process control systems. This role demands constant vigilance in monitoring equipment performance, quick response to alarms, and effective coordination with field and maintenance teams to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
The Control Room Operator will be responsible for operating Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems to continuously monitor plant operations and equipment status. Prompt action in response to alarms and abnormal conditions is essential to maintain operational stability and prevent downtime.
Regular communication with field operators and maintenance teams is critical to ensure smooth and coordinated plant functioning. The CRO will also maintain accurate daily logs and generate detailed reports documenting operational activities, ensuring transparency and traceability.
Strict adherence to safety and environmental protocols is mandatory to minimize risks and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. The role also involves active participation in emergency response activities, as well as plant shutdown and start-up procedures, requiring a proactive and calm approach under pressure.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience as a Control Room Operator in power plants, refineries, or similar industrial facilities is essential.
Practical knowledge and experience with DCS, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and SCADA systems are required to effectively monitor and control plant operations. A strong understanding of safety procedures and operational standards relevant to industrial environments is also necessary.
Excellent communication skills are vital, along with the ability to make sound, timely decisions in high-pressure situations to maintain operational integrity and safety.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience working in combined cycle power plants, thermal power generation, or oil and gas sectors will be considered a strong advantage. Familiarity with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance requirements, including permit-to-work systems, is highly desirable.
