EHS Intern

Job Summary
GSK is inviting applications for an EHS Intern to join the Environment, Health, and Safety team at its Karachi site in Sindh, Pakistan. This internship presents a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in supporting and enhancing EHS programs that promote a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. The role is designed to provide exposure to compliance management, risk assessment, sustainability efforts, and process improvements, all contributing to GSK’s global mission of improving health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
The EHS Intern will assist in the implementation and monitoring of EHS compliance programs, ensuring alignment with local, national, and GSK standards. This includes participating in incident investigations by conducting root cause analyses and supporting the development of corrective action plans while maintaining detailed documentation.

The role involves conducting risk assessments and internal audits to identify workplace hazards and suggest improvements. The intern will also support the creation and delivery of EHS training sessions and awareness campaigns aimed at employees and contractors to foster a culture of safety.

In addition, the intern will contribute to sustainability initiatives such as waste reduction, energy efficiency, and water conservation projects. Collecting and analyzing EHS data to track performance metrics and preparing reports for leadership review will also be part of the responsibilities.

Collaboration is key in this role, as the intern will work on various projects including ergonomic assessments, chemical management, and emergency response planning. They will engage with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS best practices into daily operations, promoting safety and sustainability throughout the organization.

Required Qualifications
Candidates should be currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Sustainability, or a related discipline. Preference will be given to those in their penultimate or final year of study.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with excellent organizational and time management abilities. Familiarity with EHS concepts, sustainability, risk management, and regulatory frameworks such as OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 will be advantageous.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required. Effective written and verbal communication skills are necessary to work collaboratively within a team environment. Above all, candidates should demonstrate enthusiasm for learning and applying EHS principles in a corporate setting.
