Job Purpose

GIS Specialist leads, coordinates, and monitors the Geographic Information System (GIS) activities; coordinates the development of the GIS systems and database according to programme goals and objectives, and assures the integrity and security of the database

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Extract transforms and load data (ETL) into GIS database.

2. Produce and update maps, drawings and other graphic representations

3. Perform GIS Analysis by using appropriate tools.

4. Geoprocessing development in Model Builder, Python and FME.

5. Support deployment and user training.

6. Maintain and update system documentation and ensure procedures are executed properly and in time.

7. Research & Development for implementation of designated GIS tools and techniques

8. Participate in technical investigations and prototyping

9. Development of in-house data orientation

10. Assures the integrity, security, and effective performance of the GIS Program database(s)

11. Develops GIS applications and web apps in ArcGIS in support of Programme goals;

12. Coordinates and prioritizes GIS development with stakeholders, plans development projects to assure GIS projects meet objectives; evaluates trends, anticipates problems, and reports on performance and status of GIS projects.

13. Generates ad-hoc and custom maps, disaster assessment reports and/or maps for Programme, as requested.

Essential Requirements

• A first University Degree (Software engineering, data management, and analysis, GIS) in a relevant field combined with at least 2 additional years of professional experience: in GIS, Geoinformatics or related discipline

• Knowledge of an open-source GIS software an asset (R CRAN, RStudio, ARCGIS, QGIS,…EPI info, ACCESS)

• Knowledge of FME, 3D Modelling and visualization software

• Ability to create, produce and maintain maps to ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS

• Fluency in English required Urdu and other Pakistani languages preferred.
