Social Mobilizer

Job Description Social Mobilizers will be hired for selected Union Councils to conduct community engagement and social mobilization in the pre and during the campaign phase for demand creation.   

Reports to

• District Coordinator ACSM

  Scope of Work   Pre campaign & During Campaign:  

• Coordinate with UC focal person and incorporate UC-level communication activities in UC Micro plans
• Advocacy meetings/sessions with key influencers including religious, formal and informal healthcare providers, political, Tribal/community elders
• Identify and seek support from influencers, schoolteachers, religious leaders, etc. in convincing resistant families to get child immunized
• Community engagement sessions with caregivers and other community influencers. Engage key influencers such as local elders, religious influencers (both male/female), local political representatives, formal/informal healthcare providers, and other key opinion leaders in close coordination with UPEC to support community engagement and social mobilization activities and also support micro planning.
• Identify and utilize existing community structures/committees and community-based organizations to create demand for Typhoid vaccination and engage them to support refusals conversion
• Conduct school/madrassah orientation sessions with teachers and students to sensitize students, school/madrassah administration, and caregivers through students to TCV vaccination
• Mobilize refusal schools/madrassah prior to the campaign based on previous campaign records including polio records and address concerns with school/madrassah management and conduct parent-teacher meetings to generate awareness and acceptance of typhoid vaccine during the campaign.
• Identify and mobilize caregivers and employers of out to out-of-school children for vaccination.
• Conduct mapping of out-of-school children and engage with trade unions and organizations supporting street/out-of-school children, children in auto workshops, juvenile prisons, beggars, garbage pickers, special children’s institutions, orphanages, domestic workers, etc for vaccination.
• Develop a complete plan to engage the out-of-school children prior to and during the campaign. Share records with EPI focal persons for inclusion in Micro plans.
• Carry out mosque announcements and other innovative means to attract the public’s attention
• Placement and dissemination of IEC materials in the union councils.
• Support UCMO and UC level in mobilizing children for vaccination

    Post Campaign:

• Share compiled UC reports with district coordinators on activities conducted for pre and intra-campaign and numbers reached.

  Deliverables   Daily and Weekly Deliverable

• Submission of daily report to the district coordinator
• Weekly reports on completion activities completed and numbers reached as per standard reporting template

  End of the Month Deliverable

• Post-campaign details compiled a report of UC level including pre-campaign and intra-campaign activities

  Contract duration

• 1-month contract

  Payment Schedule  

• PKR 35,000/- On submission of four weekly reports
• PKR 20,000/- on submission of the final report

  Required Qualifications

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, communication or a related discipline.

  Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, communication, and related field.
• Previous experience in social mobilization is preferred.
• At least 2 years of work experience in social mobilization
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Good report writing skills
