We are looking for an experienced IT Infrastructure Specialist to manage and support distributed data systems for our diverse client base. The successful candidate will be responsible for proactively monitoring and maintaining servers, ensuring system security, and managing the full asset lifecycle. This role requires close collaboration with Systems Engineers to document operational processes and support complex application infrastructures. The position also involves participation in 24-hour on-call support and working effectively within a multi-site team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage ongoing support for clients’ distributed data systems, ensuring high availability and performance. Proactively monitor and maintain servers both locally and remotely to prevent downtime and address issues promptly. Maintain system security by applying patches and updates, and ensure operational functions run smoothly. Oversee asset lifecycle activities including commissioning, decommissioning, consolidation, and data migration to optimize infrastructure resources. Collaborate with Systems Engineers to document operational processes and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Implement and support infrastructure for complex applications, including installations, upgrades, and lifecycle documentation. Analyze system performance metrics and implement changes to maintain server stability. Troubleshoot complex system issues arising from routine support activities. Participate in 24-hour on-call support rotations and conduct quarterly maintenance outside regular business hours. Foster effective communication and collaboration within a multi-site team environment to ensure seamless operations.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or equivalent work experience is required. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT infrastructure management is essential. Proven expertise in implementing and administering server hardware and operating systems is necessary. Hands-on experience with OS administration for Red Hat Linux, Oracle Enterprise Linux, Oracle Virtual Machine, Solaris, VMware ESX, and server virtualization technologies is expected. Strong knowledge of security patching processes for Linux systems is critical. Familiarity with Microsoft Server versions 2012 through 2022, Microsoft Office, Active Directory, DNS, WINS, DHCP, and TCP/IP networking is required. A solid understanding of backup and recovery procedures is also important.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience with Microfocus Service Manager/HPSM, infrastructure management scripting, and automation will be advantageous. Knowledge of storage area networks, Windows server clustering, terminal services, and no-tape backup solutions is preferred. Candidates with a background in project management and problem management within data center environments will be highly regarded. Experience in data center and infrastructure migrations is a plus. Cloud data center and infrastructure management experience, particularly with IaaS and/or PaaS platforms such as Azure or AWS, is desirable.
