Program Background Summary:
Pakistan Reading Project (PRP) is seven years USAID funded project starting June 2013 with the objective to support the provincial and regional departments of education (DoE) throughout Pakistan to improve reading skills of at least 1.3 million children in grade one and two. The goal will be supported by three interrelated components including improved classroom learning environment for reading, improve policies and systems for reading and community based support for reading in Pakistan. The anticipated results include 23,800 teachers in 23,800 public schools with improved skills in teaching reading, 3,649 scholarships for ADE and B.Ed. (Hons.) students, mobile bus libraries reaching out to 300 communities.
Job Overview/Summary
Major Responsibilities:
§ Visualize and create design options for all the communication products
§ Develop layouts for project publications, including but not limited to reports, newsletters, case studies etc.
§ Ensure that designs are in compliance with USAID branding guidelines
§ Coordinate with vendors/printers and determine best printing options to ensure quality
§ Maintain and archive all the design work
§ Photography of project activities and events
§ Assist with managing and updating project website
§ Assist with managing project events and activities
§ Any other task assigned by supervisor
Essentials:
§ Photography and use of DSLR camera
§ Videography and video editing skills are desirable

Job Requirements:
Education:
§ Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Design, Fine Arts, Mass Communications, Media Studies or equivalent
Work Experiences:
§ Minimum three years of proven work experience in Graphic Design, Multimedia Arts, or in a relevant capacity; preferably in a non-profit organization
§ Working with a USAID project will be a plus
Demonstrated Skills:
§ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: the ability to successfully interact with a variety of people in writing, in person and via telephone
Skills:
Ability to proficiently use the following design software’s:
§ Adobe Photoshop
§ Adobe Illustrator
§ Adobe InDesign
§ Adobe Premiere
§ Corel Draw
Language and Computer Skills:
§ Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Urdu and/or other languages local to Pakistan is a highly preferred.
The USAID-funded Pakistan Reading Project, implemented by the International Rescue Committee and its partners (Creative Associates International, World Learning, and Institute of Rural Management), is a seven-year project (2013-2020) with the objective to support the provincial and regional departments of education throughout Pakistan to improve reading skills of 1.3 million children in grades one and two. The project will achieve this goal through three distinct but interrelated components that will work in synergy to affect the quality of early grade education: Improved classroom learning environment for reading, Improved policies and systems for reading, and Improved community based support for reading in Pakistan.
