Senior Software Engineer I (UI Engineering)

This role offers the autonomy to own projects from start to finish and the opportunity to contribute innovative ideas that improve our products, development processes, and team collaboration. You will work closely with designers, product managers, and engineers across the stack, primarily using React, TypeScript, and GraphQL, while also supporting legacy Ember applications.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of DigitalOcean’s customer-facing UI products as a key member of the UI Engineering team.
- Collaborate with Product and Design teams to enhance user experience, focusing on simplicity and usability for customers.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, creating reusable and extensible components.
- Build efficient and scalable front-end applications that integrate with public and internal APIs.
- Work closely with backend teams to solve complex challenges that have broad impact.
- Mentor junior engineers to foster their professional development.
- Participate in technical design reviews to ensure high-quality solutions.
- Quickly triage and resolve bugs reported internally and externally.

Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated passion for solving customer problems and delivering meaningful product value.
- Proven experience in frontend product development, collaborating closely with backend developers, product managers, and UX/design teams.
- Expertise in building frontend components that interact with GraphQL, gRPC, and REST APIs.
- Strong mastery of JavaScript, CSS, and HTML, with a deep understanding of frontend technologies.
- Extensive experience building and deploying single-page applications at scale.
- Proficiency with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, along with the ability to think beyond framework constraints.
