This is a full-time on-site role for the Chief of Pharmacy at SIHLs flagship hospital in H-8, Islamabad. The Chief of Pharmacy will report to Director Operations of H-8 Hospital, with technical oversight from Chief Pharmaceutical Officer. The role involves overseeing pharmacy operations, ensuring strategic planning in pharmacy practices, and collaborating with medical teams to optimize patient care.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage all pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
Develop and implement pharmacy policies and procedures that enhance patient safety and care.
Oversee medication management processes, including prescribing, dispensing, and monitoring of medications.
Collaborate with medical staff to design, implement, and maintain effective pharmaceutical care programs.
Ensure the pharmacy team is adequately trained, motivated, and engaged in their roles to provide optimal patient care.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of pharmacy staff, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
Manage the pharmacy budget, optimize supply chain processes, and ensure the availability of essential medications.
Conduct regular audits and reviews of pharmacy services to maintain high standards of quality and safety.
Lead initiatives focused on improving medication use processes, transitions of care, and patient education.
Stay updated on the latest advancements in pharmacotherapy and regulatory changes to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Direct and manage comprehensive pharmacy services, including unit dose drug distribution, MOAR / CPOE systems, cytotoxic drug admixture, total parenteral nutrition services, clinical pharmacy, and specialty pharmacy services.
Collaborate with medical and nursing teams to provide pharmacy services tailored to patient needs and ensure compliance with safety protocols and cost-effectiveness measures.
Optimize the use of automation and technology to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
Develop and maintain hospital formulary systems, ensure compliance with medication use policies, and establish quality standards for drugs and chemicals.
Implement and oversee clinical pharmacy services, including medication reviews, ADR monitoring, medication error reporting, and drug utilization evaluations.
Develop forward-thinking strategies to ensure pharmacy services remain innovative, efficient, and responsive to internal and external demands.
Coordinate with regulatory authorities, ensure adherence to legal requirements, and support training programs for pharmacy students and healthcare professionals.
Manage budgets, conduct variance analyses, and ensure departmental compliance with Joint Commission/ISO standards.
