Position Objective

This position is dedicated is to build the capacity of Community volunteers and community members on Mental health and psycho social support. The officer  is expected to spend at least 70% of her/his time in the field, whilst training and providing technical support to the field team.

Mission 1 (70%) To Build the capacity of the Community on Mental Health and Psycho social Support through Community session.    

  • Conduct training and Need Assessment (TNA) and establish technical areas that requires training and on job support to the team.
  • Provide support to trained staff to cascade the training with other staff members.   
  • Ensure continuous supervision and technical support to the field teams.
  • Develop through understanding of project documents (PMP, and proposal) as well as business process / DIP for planning & implementation of project activities.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessment and screening of families through individual assessment before providing them counseling sessions.
  • Along with initial psychosocial assessment, conduct emotional health assessment as per need.
  • Conduct group/ individual session on psycho-social well being of children in the communities and/or institutional settings, involving children and their families.     
  • Contribute towards establishing appropriate methodologies and approaches for post-traumatic stress disorder counseling and emotional support for sponsored families.
  • Ensure appropriate dissemination of mental health and nutrition messages at community level.
  • Prepare or adapt mental health and nutrition Training package for Community Mobilizer/volunteers and ensure, community awareness sessions are in line with standardized material
  • Support the development of IEC material on psycho- social well being
  • Any other relevant task assigned by the manager to support the ACF programs  

Mission 2: Reporting, monitoring and evaluation (30%)

  • The Psycho social associate is responsible for:
  • Report key issues and recommendations regularly as per the frequency set by the Health Manager/ MHPSS
  • Collect clean data of beneficiaries and share with MEAL & IM Associate/ Officer for record keeping and analysis 

Mission 3: Ensure compliance with ACFs gender equality, child protection sensitivity and Safeguarding policies This position is responsible for:

  • Read and ensure a full understanding of ACFs Gender, Child Protection and other safeguarding policies  
  • Implement all work related activities with a gender, inclusion and child protection lens
  • Help build an inclusive office environment where people do not feel disadvantaged or judged according to their gender or limited manageable disability

Specific skills needed to perform the function

  • Strong Capacity building
  • Excellent coordination and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in English, reading, writing and speaking. Fluency in Pashto language will be preferred
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office)
  • Team management skills
  • Ability to handle stress and pressure

Qualification

  • Degree in Clinical Psychology
  • Previous experience in training of psychosocial workers, project officers and volunteers
  • Knowledge or Experience in implementing MHPSS humanitarian programs
  • 2 years’ experience, with at least 1 year in relevant field.
