Utilizing leadership, advocacy and collaboration the school counselor will promote students’ success, provide preventive services and respond to identified students’ needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling programme that addresses academic, career, personal and social development for all the students. Provides pastoral care support services to students, staff, and parents. Support services include referrals, counseling, assessment, diagnostics, and report writing.

Develop and implement guidance and counseling curriculum aligned with AKES, P Standards.

Facilitate guidance meetings with academic teams and coordinates with school leader, teachers, administrators, and parents for the purpose of making recommendations of individual student cases.

Counsels students, parents, and guardians for the purpose of enhancing student success, academically, socially, and emotionally, in school.

Develops a variety of special programs and classes e.g. group and teamwork, leadership, bullying, coping with broken family issues, social skills or help with life and academic skills.

Monitors students' progress for the purpose of identifying issues and taking appropriate action for increasing student success.

Connect students, parents/guardians and staff with specialized referral agencies.

Prepares a wide variety of materials (e.g. lesson plans, quantity reports, student activities, correspondence, audits, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference,

Presents information for the purpose of communicating information, gaining feedback and ensuring adherence to established internal controls.

Schedules student classes on a variety of topics for the purpose of helping students academically, socially and emotionally reach success in school.

Supervises assigned programs (e.g. scholarships, peer counseling, special education, ESL, etc.) for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth and achieving overall curriculum objectives.

Implement individual and group counseling methods that are appropriate and submit required reports promptly and accurately.

Understand, evaluate, and interpret academic performance data. Interpret information about students to the student, their parents/guardians, and staff.

Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan (AKES,P) is a network of educational institutions that combines the operation of 159 schools and 5 hostels with the management of programmes to enhance the quality of teachers, academic resources and learning environments in Pakistan through community partnerships and long-term interventions. It is one of the largest third-sector networks of educational institutions in Pakistan and part of an international network of over 200 schools spread in 8 countries of the world under the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). Reaching out to the remotest areas of the country, AKES,P has been providing quality education in the region for the past 110 years. It is a direct provider of education for nearly 36,000 students from pre-primary to higher secondary levels and facilitates access to higher education through the provision of scholarships, hostels and other educational support services.With more than 2,000 employees, of whom over 1,500 areteachers, AKES,P is also supported by over 2,000 volunteers. In Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, the first AKES,P schools were setup in the 1940s; since then they have contributed significantly toincreasing the literacy rates and social development in theremote, mountainous, harsh and ecologically fragile regions ofNorthern Pakistan. AKES,P currently operates 151 schools inGilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, providing education to over 27,000students, of which 54% are girls. Through these efforts, AKES,Pis continuing to play a critical role in women’s development inthe region. In the Southern Region, AKES,P operates four schools in Karachi,three in Hyderabad and rural Sindh and one in Hafizabad,Punjab, with over 8,900 students. All AKES,P schools follow theNational Curriculum but place special emphasis on the teachingof English, Mathematics, Science and the increasing use ofInformation and Communication Technologies (ICT).
