The Manager of the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the sterilization and distribution of medical instruments and equipment within the hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, and evaluate CSSD staff provide ongoing training and development opportunities to ensure staff competency in sterilization techniques, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines set forth by regulatory agencies
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Must keep the instruments complete in all sets required for surgery.
- Must keep the linen in good condition. Turnover must be maintained.
- Manage inventory of sterile supplies, including ordering, receiving, and storing supplies.
- Develop and implement quality control measures to ensure the effectiveness of sterilization processes.
- Coordinate the maintenance, calibration, and repair of sterilization equipment.
- Must maintain a sterelizing record and produce on demand to prove sterlization procedures.
- Ensure that equipment is properly maintained and functioning to meet quality and safety standards.
- Prepare reports and documentation for internal and external audits as needed.
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of RO Water in the department
- Liaise with other departments, such as surgery, nursing, and infection control, to coordinate sterile supply needs and address any concerns or issues.
- Communicate effectively with staff, management, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations of the CSSD.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in CSSD or in related field.
- 5-8 years or relevant experience.
- In-depth knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection control practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Must be a computer literate
