Requirements
- A thorough understanding of optical networking technologies, including SDH, DWDM and SONET.
- Extensive experience designing physical infrastructure including conduit layouts, point of entry for carrier access, fiber path diversity, and carrier hand-off.
- Experience with optical planning & modeling tools.
- Knowledge of the G.709 protocol.
- Ability to lead the design, configuration, and support of circuit connectivity on carrier rings.
- Good working knowledge of IP networking fundamentals. Knowledge of both L2 switching and L3 routing is desirable.
- Experience designing, implementing, and supporting optical transport networks using systems from vendors such as Huawei.
- Excellent analytical ability with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong project- and time-management skills with a successful track record of troubleshooting complex problems and delivering timely solutions.
- The desire and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BE/BS/ME/MS degree in Computer Science / Telecommunication or Engineering
- At least 5 years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting optical transport networks
- Huawei Optical Communication Consultant certification
- Five years of experience with network capacity planning and vendor management·
