Sr. Team Lead PHP Web Developer

Newsreps is a Stockholm-based startup that connects smartphone users with news companies and among top 30 startups of Scandinavia having won multiple awards such as Google digital news initiative. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic developer who will help us to further build a modern software architecture. Since the company is still young, you will have a unique opportunity to contribute to the very core of our products.

We have core web applications and several supporting libraries. Backend tech: PHP, Laravel, MySQL, message queues running at AWS. We practice design patterns, code quality, automated servers provisioning, continuous delivery and automated testing. Some of our apps operate under quite high traffic load. You will be responsible from all sides for our backend projects. For example, when your solution requires database performance tuning or non-usual server setup you are expected to challenge that as well.

Hard skill required:Strong command in PHP.Practical experience with Laravel 5 and/or other frameworks.Proven ability to apply object-oriented software design patterns.Proficiency in relational databases: MySQL.Ability to effectively manage databases: indexes, slow queries, replication.Proven ability to take care of servers, measure and tune server performance.Good written and spoken English skills.Experience building REST APIs.Experience in building asynchronous applications with message queues.Experience using Javascript libraries.
