Orphan Home Coordinator shall have the primary responsibility of maintaining the designated Orphan Kind units and shall be readily available as and when required by the children and the staff. The general duties and functions of the Orphan Home Coordinator shall include:

 Essential Responsibilities:

1. Ensure the best interests of the child are to be protected over any other consideration by providing a homely atmosphere of love, affection, care, development and welfare for children and dealing with difficulties of children in daily life.

2. Maintaining optimum standards of care and protection in all OrphanKind units under his/her care.

3. Supervision and monitoring of children’s discipline and wellbeing.

4. Ensure the safety of children in programme and recreational activities; making sure all safety regulations are followed (as mentioned in Section 10.5 of the Standard Operating Procedure).

5. Ensure protection of children from all types of sexual, emotional, verbal and physical abuse.

6. Ensure children are heard and taken seriously.

7. Do not discriminate against children on the basis of gender, disability, ethnicity, religion or any other grounds of discrimination.

8. Be aware of high-risk peer situations (e.g., unsupervised mixing of older and younger children, visit from an individual outside the unit, etc.)

9. Report suspected or alleged or suspicious behavior to supervisor or designated Child Protection Officer.

10. Provide Psychosocial support to the children and elders in residential projects

11. Work with children and their primary caregivers in order to research, assess, and possibly treat developmental issues such as autism or pervasive developmental disorder.

12. Meeting with children and their family members to observe and diagnose concerns about a child’s mental or emotional state.

13. Administer personality or other psychological examination for a slightly troubled child.

14. Help children and adolescents dealing with social problems like bullying, substance abuse or high-risk sexual behaviors by providing education and counseling where required.

15. Help children and adolescents dealing with family-related issues, such loss, illness or divorce.

16. Collaborating with parents, teachers, foster mothers or other clinicians involved in a case to implement child psychology treatment plans.

17. Treat learning delays or psychological disorders such as depression or anxiety.
