Assistant Editor:

 

The Role: You will be responsible for overseeing and carefully editing news stories related to a range of key industries, as well as major economic and political developments, for Market Intelligence's News team.  You will also write and edit stories for publication and assist in the day-to-day administration and management of workflow.

 

The Impact: The successful applicant will be editing the biggest stories of interest to Market Intelligence's subscribers. Areas of coverage will be very diverse, ranging from economic data and financial market moves, to corporate announcements or results, and big political events.

The Team / The Business: Market Intelligence's News team will work in close cooperation with reporters and editors in our offices around the world.

 

Your Skills: Ideally, you should have a solid background in editing, writing, and a keen eye for detail. You must be able to work well under pressure and to a tight deadline. Knowledge of business news is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • News editing: Directs proprietary coverage of assigned sectors, which includes assigning, developing and editing stories with an eye toward clarity, accuracy and consistency with procedures.
  • News writing: Develops original stories for significant product impact.
  • Checks data and graphics for accuracy and consistency.
  • Communicates effectively and fluently with writers/analysts to ensure accuracy of output.
  • Training: Works one-on-one with editors and writers to improve the written English of the existing News workforce.
  • Completes other assignments or projects as assigned

 

Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's/College Degree Economics, Finance/Accountancy/Banking, Mass Communications or equivalent.
  • At least 2-3 year(s) of working experience as a writer or editor.
  • Experience in people management is a plus.
  • Have a strong interest in financial or business news.

Shift:

This will be a night shift position.
