Abacus Consulting is looking for a proactive and detail-focused Security Operations Center Analyst to strengthen its cybersecurity team. The analyst plays a critical role in monitoring security systems and identifying and addressing potential security threats. This role involves analyzing complex security incidents and ensuring rapid responses to cybersecurity events to protect organizational infrastructure, systems, and sensitive data from malicious activities. The position requires a strong foundation in cybersecurity principles and familiarity with contemporary monitoring tools, enabling effective identification and mitigation of risks within a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate possesses excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with a solid understanding of networking protocols and security frameworks. The Security Operations Center Analyst collaborates closely with IT and security teams, contributes to shaping security policies, and ensures compliance with cybersecurity standards. This position demands attentiveness to detail and the capacity to communicate findings clearly through detailed reports. While this role does not include team management responsibilities, it requires independence, initiative, and adaptability, including the ability to work rotational shifts as needed.
Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts and events continuously using Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools and various security platforms.
- Investigate and analyze suspicious activities, potential security breaches, and verified threats to evaluate their impact and origin.
- Perform comprehensive incident detection, containment, analysis, and prompt escalation according to established protocols.
- Analyze logs and data gathered from firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), antivirus software, and endpoint detection and response tools.
- Document security incidents, analysis results, and response actions with precision to maintain accurate records and support future audits.
- Conduct in-depth threat intelligence research and vulnerability assessments to stay ahead of emerging cyber threats and improve defense mechanisms.
- Collaborate with information technology and cybersecurity teams to enhance the organization's overall security posture through best practices and process improvements.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of security policies, procedures, and guidelines that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present detailed daily, weekly, and monthly security reports that summarize threat activity, incident response outcomes, and system vulnerabilities.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with cybersecurity frameworks, legal regulations, and organizational policies to maintain a secure operational environment.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest cybersecurity trends, technologies, and attack vectors to adapt response strategies accordingly.
- Support the security operations center during rotational shifts to provide continuous security monitoring and rapid incident response.
