The Academic LMS Administrator plays a crucial role in managing the technical aspects of Laneway College's Learning Management System (Moodle). This position ensures the platform’s stability, configuration, access controls, integrations, and data integrity, allowing academic and resource coordinators to focus on content delivery and student outcomes. Reporting to the Academic Resource Coordinator or Academic Manager, with technical liaison to IT where applicable, this role supports the seamless operation of the LMS to meet both educational and compliance requirements. The position is remote-based, open to candidates in India or Pakistan, and suited for professionals with 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Configure and maintain the Moodle environment, including course shells, cohorts, enrolment rules, user roles, permissions, grading structures, and site-wide settings.
- Manage user accounts for trainers, assessors, students, and administrative staff, ensuring appropriate access levels across campuses.
- Prepare Moodle course shells ahead of each intake in collaboration with the Academic Resource Coordinator, who handles pedagogical content.
- Set up attendance, engagement, and progress-tracking features to comply with CRICOS/ESOS student monitoring obligations.
- Oversee Moodle plugins, themes, and add-ons, evaluating new requests from trainers or the Academic Coordinator.
- Manage integration and data synchronization between Moodle and student management systems (e.g., aXcelerate) as well as other platforms such as PRISMS and assessment tools.
- Monitor data integrity across systems, identifying and resolving discrepancies or synchronization failures between the LMS and SMS records.
- Maintain backup, archiving, and version control processes for LMS data, course structures, and historical cohorts.
- Generate reports on login activity, course completion rates, engagement, and attendance to support academic and compliance reporting.
- Serve as the first point of contact for technical issues related to Moodle, including login errors, access problems, and content display faults.
- Liaise with Moodle hosting and support providers regarding bugs, outages, upgrades, and feature requests; test and validate updates prior to deployment.
- Maintain Moodle help documentation and provide basic system training and inductions for new trainers and staff.
- Escalate unresolved technical or vendor issues and track them through to resolution.
- Ensure Moodle’s configuration and data capture meet ASQA, CRICOS, and National Code compliance requirements related to student engagement and progress monitoring.
- Support ASQA audits and CRICOS re-registration by producing system-level evidence such as access logs, engagement reports, and audit trails.
- Collaborate with the Academic Coordinator and compliance team to reconcile Moodle data with official student records.
- Uphold data security and confidentiality in accordance with privacy legislation and institutional policies.

Required Qualifications

- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Information Systems, Education Technology, or a related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
- 1 to 3 years of experience administering Moodle or a comparable LMS within an education, training, or RTO/CRICOS environment.
- Working knowledge of student management systems (e.g., aXcelerate) and understanding of Moodle/SMS integration processes.
- Familiarity with VET/CRICOS compliance requirements concerning student engagement and progress monitoring, or a strong willingness to learn.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills, with comfort navigating Moodle’s administrative settings, user permissions, plugins, and reporting tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing requests from trainers, students, and compliance staff effectively.

Key Attributes

- Systems-oriented and technically confident, with a clear focus on owning Moodle as an infrastructure platform rather than just content.
- Responsive and service-minded when addressing access or technical issues for trainers and students.
- Clear and effective communicator, capable of translating technical issues for non-technical academic and compliance personnel.
- Collaborative team player who works closely with Academic and Resource Coordinators without overlapping responsibilities.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the smooth operation of a critical educational platform within a supportive and compliance-focused environment.
