The Account Officer will manage daily accounting operations for multiple clients, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping and timely processing of invoices and reconciliations. This role is essential in supporting both the company’s and clients’ financial health while maintaining compliance with internal policies and accounting standards. The position requires close attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently across various accounting systems and regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and maintain all financial transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks, CaseWare, SAP, Tally, or similar platforms.
- Assist in preparing financial statements and working papers with CaseWare Working Papers, including importing trial balances, preparing lead schedules, and ensuring audit-ready documentation.
- Support accounting processes for U.S. and Canadian clients, including reconciliations, adjusting entries, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and Canadian ASPE/IFRS standards.
- Prepare U.S. and Canadian tax workpapers, including income summaries, expense reconciliations, and trial balance adjustments for corporate and individual filings (Forms 1040, 1120, 1065, T1, T2, etc.).
- Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and intercompany accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings, including variance analysis and journal entry preparation.
- Process invoices, payroll data, and employee expense reimbursements promptly and accurately.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of all financial and audit records in compliance with firm policies and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and consistency across multiple client engagements.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accounting & Finance or a professional certification such as ACCA, CA, CPA, or equivalent.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in accounting, audit, or tax, preferably with exposure to U.S. and Canadian clients.
- Proficient in using CaseWare Working Papers for financial statement preparation and audit documentation.
- Familiarity with U.S. GAAP, Canadian ASPE/IFRS, and basic tax compliance requirements for both jurisdictions.
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks, MS Excel, and other accounting or ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and organizational skills to manage multiple client files efficiently.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and perform well under pressure, especially during tax and audit seasons.
This is a full-time, in-person position requiring availability for night shifts. The role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment supporting diverse client portfolios while developing expertise in cross-border accounting and tax compliance.
