Accountant

This role involves managing multiple eCommerce client accounts simultaneously, each with its own books and deadlines. You will handle full-cycle bookkeeping tasks including reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, journal entries, and month-end close processes. Our clients are high-revenue brands, and the team operates on a strict five-day month-end close schedule. You will work independently as a contractor, using your own equipment with a reliable internet connection and power backup. The position requires full overlap with Eastern Standard Time (9 am to 5 pm) and is fully remote, open to candidates worldwide. Payment is made in Canadian dollars (CAD).

Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping across a portfolio of client files, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Support month-end close activities, including reconciliations, schedules, and preparation of supporting workpapers.
- Accurately record payroll entries, prepaids, and accruals.
- Prepare sales tax filings and remittances as required.
- Review your own work thoroughly before submission to minimize errors.
- Identify and communicate discrepancies clearly and promptly, providing evidence of your review.
- Address review feedback completely and on time, including unitemized notes.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting or bookkeeping, with at least 1 year in a firm, BPO, or multi-client environment.
- Professional accounting qualification or progress toward one (e.g., ACCA, ICAP (CA), ICMA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent). Part-qualified candidates and finalists are welcome.
- Proven experience managing multiple separate client accounts, not just multiple entities within one company.
- Demonstrated ability to perform full-cycle bookkeeping: reconciliations, A/P, A/R, journal entries, accruals, and prepaids.
- Experience working to fixed month-end close deadlines. Candidates with rolling deadlines should be prepared to discuss adaptability.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online or Xero. QuickBooks Online certification will be funded during onboarding if needed.
- Strong ability to follow written instructions precisely, including formatting, naming conventions, and deadlines without reminders.
- Experience working with clients or employers outside Pakistan, preferably in the US, Canada, UK, or Australia.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, sufficient for live calls and clear documentation.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

Candidates should expect the most demanding workload during the first ten business days of the month-end period, with workload easing afterward. The role requires booking approximately 39 hours per week on client work, tracked accurately. The initial two weeks are dedicated to onboarding rather than client work, providing an opportunity to demonstrate adaptability and initiative. Proactive communication is essential; you should raise issues promptly with details of your troubleshooting efforts rather than waiting for scheduled meetings.

This position is not suitable for those who require detailed hand-holding, prefer less demanding environments, or are currently focused solely on accounts payable, accounts receivable, shared service centers, or audit roles. Full EST hours are mandatory and must be manageable for your health and lifestyle.
